OK so we have always just used the disney transportation to get around the world. We have had all the challenges like everyone else with tired kids, double strollers.....you name it, we did it.
Last trip my DS2 would not nap at all in his stroller, which made for long cranky days.........and he did not go down well in the room. Anyway, that was last October, this October we are thinking about renting a car, just for the convenience of a good nap!!! What do you think??
Does having to get to the car become more of a hassle then it will be worth?
I am open to any and all suggestions!!!!!!
Thanks

Whether we are staying on-site or off we always rent a car. My children are older now but my DH wouldnt consider using the buses when they were little and he doesnt ask for much when we vacation! Sometimes the wait for that last ride or parade was just a little too long and the thought of standing in line for a bus where we could possibly have to stand was too much.

Using Mousesavers, etc. I have always been able to get a code for a good rate and we're not too fussy about the type of car since there are only four of us in our family.

We also like the convenience of going to parks, dinner, etc. when we want and not having to allow as much time for transfers. If you stay on-site I believe you still park for free and we have never had a problem finding parking at our resort.

We also like to eat off-site some nights when we go and we find the driving to be very easy around Disney and well marked.

I do enjoy the boat at Disney and of course the monorail but for us we will always have a car.

Best of luck with your decision.

Interesting...I approach this from the opposite direction. We've been going to WDW since DS and DD were small (they're 18 and 16 now) and would NEVER think of renting a vehicle. In fact, we drove down one year (yikes) and never moved the van once we parked it in the lot and unloaded the luggage. I've never been able to understand why anyone would want the hassles of driving and parking .vs. using the Disney system :confused3 That's part of our vacation--stressless riding (in all sorts of nasty downpours) and the ability to relax and watch the World go by. Renting a car for nap potential? I guess I don't see the connection. HERE WE COME JUNE 22  :cool1:  :woohoo:

I think the Disney transpertation is part of the majic.

I have a question on the time savings of having your own car. It appears that for MK Disney transportation makes sense because you still have to take the monorail or ferry from the parking lot.

My question is the other parks like Epcot. At Epcot does the Tram from the parking lot drop you off right at the entrance? Last summer when we stayed at the WL I swear I thought the bus stop for WL was a 10 minute walk from the entrance. (OK, it wasn't that bad but it seemed it!) AK seemed to be the same way. One thing I wondered was if there would be less walking using your own car? The bus stops are definitely not that close to the entrances but I don't know where the trams from the parking lots drop you off. Are they closer to the entrance than the bus stops?
