My 2 kids and I are flying into Sanford Airport in July. We are staying at Shades of Green so no Magical Express for us.

I am contemplating renting a car vs. hiring a car service. The price comparison for renting a car for 9 days vs. a car service is rather close at least looking at Tiffany Tours and Alamo.

Honestly, I would rather just hire a service with a grocery stop... Any tips??

We rent a car on every trip and I'd never want to go without it. Just the flexibility of having my own vehicle and not be on the transportation schedule of someone else is great. Especially if it's the same price as a car service, you only have to use the rental 1 time during your trip to have it pay for itself. If you run short on groceries, with your own car you can always go back out and get more.

I've had great luck with Priceline, I take the best deal I can find online and then cut it by around 20% for my bid (just be careful as their bid prices are before taxes). I almost always get the car for that rate, though I tend to go at less crowded times of year.

Good luck.

I agree with Mr. McGee. We always rent a car and drive to every park. In all the visits listed in my signature we have ridden a Disney bus 1 time.

We just don't want the hassle of traffic, directions, tolls, refilling the car with gas, etc. Also, we hate to pay $18+ for parking at Hard Rock for two nights. We'd rather just have someone else drive us around.

Are there plenty of minivan Mears Yellow Cabs (not Mears shuttle) at the airport? I'm thinking thas what we would need with five medium bags and four adults (plus four carryons).

Not a fan of tenting and driving...50 trips and always use the Disney Transportation system... From the Amtrak station in Kissimmee, we always use a car service ...30 minute grocery/alcohol stop, personalized service...

We're on property, having a few drinks here and there, do not want to be behind a steering wheel of a rental.... It's a vacation away from all things normal..!

If you don't want to rent a car, just get a car service. I would imagine 9 days car rental would be more expensive. It is nice to have a rental car while on property, but we have been known to have a few cocktails here and there, and would rather not drive. You can always grab a few cabs if you don't want to bus around.
