Renovations at Poly?

I think I remeber reading somewhere that the Poly is being renovated? Does anyone have any information. I've tried Tikiman's website but it appears to be down right now.

I was thinking about the Poly for our July 2005 trip.

Yes the GCH is being worked on to have the shops all moved to the first floor up front. Captain Cook’s is getting larger, The arcade is moving to the GCH. The rooms are going to get redone completely starting with Tahiti at the end of April, The Tonga suites are in the middle of being updated.

They are also doing a new lobby concierge desk that will be where non-concierge guests will go to get their tickets or make PS arrangements, etc. so they do not have to back up the line over at check-in. The concierge will now be called the King Kamehameha Club level. There are a few more things but I have been asked to wait to say anything till they have the plans confirmed. My pages will be back up on Monday for more details on the changes and I hope to add more info soon.

I obviously don't know if it is accurate but when we were at the Polynesian at the end of February, an employee told me that it had been decided not to move the arcade to the GCH. I hope she was right.

Years ago when concierge first started as a room in the GCH, it was called King Kamehameha as I recall.

If I recall correctly, that's what the concierge level was known as in the early 90s, wasn't it? Seems appropriate to bring things around full circle!

Yes but that was because the lounge was where the gallery is now and the Hawaii building did not have the lounge end added to it yet. Also you could book concierge in any of the lagoon view rooms (added to your reservation).
