Have all 4 mansions been renovated at POR, or just some of them? We're going in Dec., and I'd really like a renovated room, so I'm curious as to which ones to request. Thanks so much for your help!

I heard three out of four. The fourth should be done by November at the latest. I am wanting to see a photo of the rehab room. It would be great if someone who stayed in the rehab mansions this summer could post some. :-)

Thanks Hunter 1722! Is Magnolia Terrace 1 of the 3 renovated? Oak Manor? Also, which floor of Oak Manor is smoking optional? I've always wanted to stay in that mansion, but I like the top floor, but need a n/s room, as I'm an asthmatic. Thanks for the help!:D

We stayed in Oak Manor in June and it was totally renovated. We had non-smoking rooms on the 2nd floor. I have asthma also. However, I did see someone walking down the hallway by our rooms smoking. Not sure where they came from though.

Magnolia Terrace is renovated. I have seen several posts about it opening up in July and the guests really liking it. Privacy curtain, iron & board, coffee pot, ect.

I called the POR resort today and spoke to a CM at the front desk. She said three of the mansions have been refurbished already and the last one, Parterre Place should be done by the end of Sept.

Our room was very nice in Oak Manor. It looked like new border wallpaper, tile, carpeting, paint, etc. It had the privacy curtains in the sink area, which was good for us because we brought my DD's friend. It also had the coffeemaker, iron and ironing board, and hairdryer.

My SIL also stayed a couple of doors down, and she really liked her room and the whole resort. If you knew my SIL, she is very critical and has something negative to say about almost everything. She walked in the room and was pleasantly surprised. When we went home, she remarked to me about how much she liked the resort and WDW and wanted to go back, which just about blew me away!!

Thanks for the good review of POR mansions. We wanted POFQ but couldn't get the discounts for our dates so we will be at POR and have requested the mansions. When did you go?

We are thinking about staying at the POR as well. Are the mansions preferred over the other accommodations, and why?

blondeqtip,

It seems both sections of POR - the mansions and the bayou rooms - are equally enjoyed by people.

The advantage of the bayou rooms is for families since they have two double beds AND a trundle bed to accomodate 5. The mansions only accomodate 4.

Rhonna,
We went this past June. As far as which section is better, I think it is just a matter of preference. We've stayed 3 times in AB before. I've always wanted to stay in MB. However, we had 5 and needed the trundle bed. When I checked in, I told them that this was our 4th visit and we've never been able to stay in the mansions. I asked the CM if we could get a rollaway in MB and she said yes. I prefer the mansions because I don't like the rustic look as much, but there are many who like it better than the mansions. It's just a matter of what you like better.

Good luck with your planning!
;)
