Has anyone done this?

DH and I decided we want to renew our vows while were in Hawaii next month. It would be the night of our 10th anniversary on the beach.. Im so excited!

Has anyone done this before? Should I call a planner? Is there anything I should know?

This is kind of last minute, Im calling for ministers today. I know you dont need a license or anything for a renewal... ack help!

My DH and I did this seven years ago at the Excalibur Hotel's Chapel. Our children stood up with us and DH's cousin and her son (who lived in Las Vegas) attended as well.

You are correct that you don't need a license - but you will have to notify a minister/Justice of the Peace ahead of time. I can't remember the cost - but I'm thinking that for the Minister, Chapel use and photographer it was around $200.00.

Good luck!

My DH and I did this for our 10th anniversary. We renewed our vows on the beach in Nassau. We were on a four-day RCCL cruise. I called ahead to a woman with the ministry of tourism. She arranged everything--the minister, the location, the flowers. It was just the two of us, and it was very special.

I don't know what would be involved Binny, but I just wanted to say how wonderfully romantic that sounds!!

Have fun!!

That sounds wonderful, binny! How romantic! You might need to bring a copy of your marriage license, so you might want to check on that.

binny,
Congratulations! You may want to call the hotel that you are staying at.... they will be able to help you with finding the proper measures to go with in Hawaii. Many folks like to get married on the beach so I know there are proper channels to go thru.

Best wishes!

Joan

Our church does it every Valentine's Day and DH and I never go. We know a bunch of couples that do it every year, three of them ended up getting divorced including our assoc. Pastor. So know we are convinced not to renew! One year at the church fair this same pastor brought a new couple to introduce to us and was telling them all about the church including the renewal vows. He asked us if we were planning on doing it and we both kind of loudly yelled NO together. This couple just gave us a funny look and walked away and he goes - way to scare away the new members! I said hey it didn't work for you, we don't want to curse a good thing!

But I think doing it in Hawaii sounds really sweet. I hope you have a wonderful trip.
