So my hubby just sprang this one on me... he wants to renew our vows for our tenth anniversary next june. He asked me where I would want to do it, and of course I said Disney. :) We didn't get to have a real wedding, and we don't have any wedding pictures, so of course the thoughts that were running through my head???

Grand Floridian, photographer, the beach, white flowy dress. We have 4 kids now, so family pictures, too. ha ha

He asked how we'd get everyone there - who else would be coming? I'd like to ask if our original best man and maid of honor (they signed our marriage license) if they would like to go. My MOH is also a dvc owner, as are we.

It would have to be of a lower budget, probably $3k total - do you think its doable? DH said he told me because he wants me to help him plan it, but I don't even know where to begin!

(our original wedding was when we were 20. it was in a bar/lounge place that DH's mother worked at, and we didn't get to plan anything!!! I didn't even get to pick out my dress:mad: His MOTHER took control and of course, being young and naive, we kind of let her. So this is our chance to have a do-over, I guess!)

I attempted to price a vow-renewal at Dis a few years ago and came up with a much higher price for a minimal event (I hate to use the term "bottom-of -the-line" inregards to any kind of wedding...). I'd be interested in knowing if I just didn't know what I needed to know. Good luck! I hope you find I am wrong!

Congratulations on the VR....did ours in Disney for our 10th and 20th....10th was a quiet thing in our room, 20th was the big splash on the cruise. I am not certain what the cost would be overall in DW....if you go to the Disney Fairy Tale weddings site, you can get the number and call. I get the feeling that $3000 might not make it on land, but if you are on the cruise it is $1800 I believe...cost has increased since I did it 2 yrs ago.

But no matter what you choose...it was the best thing we ever did!!!! Hoping to do Hawaii for our 30th....love DVC

I think you would struggle to get anything going through DFTW for $3k. Their basic 'Escape' package is $4750.00 without a reception.
Check out other options in the area.
I am having my VR at the Swan (not DFTW, but right there in DW) in May and it has worked out considerably cheaper than DFTW, although, I'm afraid, still above $3k

Oh, I should probably make it known that we're not going to be doing any packages... just something private and with friends and family. We would be hiring a photographer, that's about it, and just be taking a regular family vacation otherwise. I am just wondering if we'd be able to get pictures taken in disney if the photographer isn't disney... wondering if we should just do it at home, but that would require plane tickets, and we can drive to disney from where we live right now. ha ha

I also have no clue about who does VR ceremonies... I've never been to one. Or had one. ha ha

Ohhh, I would LOVE to do it on a beach in Hawaii. That was my first thought, but with the 6 of us flying, it would be pricey from the get go.

I noticed that you're an Army wife, so I thought I'd mention Shades of Green! I just requested info today and it looks like you can do a very simple ceremony for much less then Disney.

Ooh, that's a good idea.

When we did our 10 year, Disney didn't do the Weddings and VR like it is now. We did it on the patio of the OKW room we were in, looing out over the golf course. We had a friend with us, whose Dad is a ship's captain who did the "ceremony" that we wrote. We all (8 of us total) went into France for dinner and then watched the fireworks.

Now, I know that they do no like this sort of thing happening anymore. I believe that you cannot take a photographer into the parks with you to have the shots taken...and certainly not all dressed in formal wear. Someone can correct me if I am wrong....but I believe that I am correct.
