Renewing & Upgrading Pass Question

Right now I have a So. Cal Select pass that expires Jan. 3, 2011. When I renew I want to upgrade to the So. Cal Pass.

If I renew before the Jan. 3, 2011 expiration date, when would the new pass be usable and expire?:

A. Jan. 4th 2011 to Jan. 3, 2012?

B. From the first time I use it BEFORE Jan. 3rd 2011 to Jan 3, 2012, and if so, would the remainder of my time on So. Cal Select be "upgraded" ?

C. From the first date of use to 1 year later ie: Dec. 10, 2010 thru Dec 9, 2011 and I forfeit the remaining time on my old So Cal. Select?

Thanks from any help.

You probably need to call Guest Services.
I've never upgraded, only renewed by mail - and I've gotten my new card in the mail before the old one expired and it was good for the full year from my prior expiration date.

Once I went when the card was in-transit so my old card was rejected, but the CM at the gate right away guessed what had happened so there was no problems.

So - if you're lucky you'll get a year + at the new level. But they're pretty smart over there, so I wouldn't count on it!

If you want to upgrade, you can't renew early, UNLESS you are willing to change the anniversary date to the day you upgrade. So, if you upgrade today, for example, your So Cal AP will be good Nov 9, 2010-Nov 9, 2011. The Jan 3 day will become irrelevant.

Not true!!! If you upgrade today (with a Jan. 3 exp date) you are not within your renewal period (30 days I believe) and you would only pay the difference and only have the upgrade until your original expiration date. If you renew and upgrade at the same time within your renewal period then your expiration date does not change. OP, your upgrade will be effective immediately and your expiration date will remain the January date as long as you upgrade within the "renewal" period.

Thank you! This was my first year with a pass. When do "renewal" periods start?

I believe its 30 days before your pass expires. We only had a pass this last year and didn't renew so I'm not absolutely positive. You should get a renewal reminder in the mail.

It is 30 days. We just called with this same question for our renewals this year. So if you renew on Dec. 4 (i'm guessing since there are thirty one days in December) in the park, you will have use of the upgraded pass through Jan. 4, 2012. If you renew by mail, you can send it in 40 days before expiration, but you still wouldn't be able to use the upgrade until Dec. 4.

Hope that helps!
