Renewing annual passes

Okay I know this has been discussed on several threads. But I have question about renewing them. I keep seeing people say that if you renew them the expiration date starts the first time you use them not from your old expiration date. If you did this how did you pull it off or were these people probably talking about buying new pasess. The reason I ask is that my passes expires in March and we will not be going until June. I would like to renew them over the phone so we do not have to stand in those awful lines to get our picture taken but every time I call them (have done it three times) I am told the renewed passes will start from the original expiration date in our case March even though we will not use them until June. From a business standpoint this is what I would expect but people keep posting that is not how theirs were renewed.

If you are talking Universal ...you can renew but NOT activate your pass until you go. Your NEW renewal date will be the date you activated it...not renewed it. Disney is different...the date for them is the anniversary date, even if you don't activate it....it will still expire 12 months from the renewal date....

People keep posting this (if you renew your annual pass for universal the new expiration date is when you activate it not from your old expiration) but I have called universal three times about this and they keep telling me that is not true. If you renew an annual pass the new expiration date is one year from your original expiration date not from when you activated it or used it for the first time.
