This is the first year that we have had an annual pass (thanks to the DVC discount). Our passes expire the middle of March. I have some questions about renewing.
1. Will I receive something in the mail prior to the expiration date to renew by mail?
2. If I postpone renewing (we have a trip in March, passes will still be good)until October (the next trip) will our new expiration date be October of the next year?
3. Is there a difference in price to renew as opposed to purchasing a new one in October?

Thank you!!!!

They do send you a reminder in the mail at least a month before your pass is due to expire, at least they did in my DH's case.

When you renew your pass, your new expiration date is one year from your current pass' expiration date so in your case your renewed pass would expire in mid-March 2007. If you aren't going on another trip until October, you might be better off waiting and purchasing a new pass for your October trip. Renewing a pass is cheaper than buying a new one. I don't know the 2006 renewal price but I think you save about 10%????

Thank you LisaS! I will be on the lookout for the reminder card.

We've all had annual passes for some years and only occasionally will one of us get a renewal notice so I wouldn't count on that.

But if I were you, I would just get a new one in October. The price difference between a renewal and new AP with DVC discount was only $15 last year. I think it is similar this year. You'll gain 7 months for $15.

I agree, I'd wait and buy a new pass in October. Our passes generally expire just prior to, or during, our trips so we renew...but for 7 months, I'd get a ew one.

I have another question relating to this . . .
I found this quote on the passholder site:
You can renew your Pass from 30 days before until 30 days after your expiration date, in order to receive your renewal discount.
So does that mean that if I wait the 30 days to renew, my new pass will expire a year from that 30-days-later date? . . . or will it still expire a year from the original expiration date?

To explain my question a little better . . . :guilty:
Our passes expire on February 10 of 2006, and our next trip isn't until April 2006. We do not anticipate making a trip between Feb. and April of 2007, so we thought we would go ahead and renew now to get the renewal discount.(over 85 bucks! ) However, after reading the quote above on the passholder site, I wondered if we could wait until March 11 to renew, thereby pushing our next renewal date until March 11 of 2007. . . or would it still have an expiration of Feb. 10, 2007? As I said, we will not need the passes between Feb. and April, but it would be nice to stretch the "pass year" out another month just in case (you never know with those DING fares.) ;)

Did this make any sense at all?!

No, your renewal date will still be 1 year from the original expiration, not 30 days later.

Don't count on receiving anything in the mail - my AP expires 2/19 and I have not received anything.

Darn! Thanks, Deb. We didn't need that extra month anyway. Just thought it would be nice to have. :)

So...my AP expires on 11/29/06....but I'm going to be in WDW on 12/7..so I can go to Intl Gtwy and renew then? As long as I bring my DVC member card for the discounted price.

Yes - you'll robably need to show your photo ID as well, but most of us carry that anyway.

best wishes -

i called today about the pass prices--to renew its 308 and to purchase with a new expiration date is 335.00
