Here is our situation. We have Gold AP's that are due to expire sept 5th. we are planning on WDW Nov 2-5 and then again as our usual spring trip March 31-April 7th. Trying to do disney math and see what would be smarter. Renew NOW and use the AP for both trips? Use 2 of our last nonexpire days on old tix, or buy discounted hoppers for nov and then buy maybe a new AP if they roll our whatever program will come? Under so much stress here that having a hard time thinking right. Oldest son recovering from many (4) colerectal surgeries from aug 2020 to june 2021. and just one week ago we lost our almost 14 year old Toy Fox Terrier who was our love. I know these these tix problems are not the end of the world but I want to make the right math choice and book our park days for both trips soon.

Given we don’t know what will happen with APs or the price when they return, I would renew it for sure.

Once they come back for sale, I am actually going to buy a few certificates for later use so we always have them!
thank you that was my original thought but just needed a clear head to assure. I think I can technically renew over the phone now. 2 months ahead correct?

If you have a trip booked for after your APs expire you can currently renew far in advance. Our APs were set to expire Nov 28th and our November trip ends on the the 29th so I was able to renew last week so I could make our park passes! I wanted to be sure to renew ASAP because I wanted to get another renewal in just in case they hike up the price when they offer them for sale again!

I think the break even on the annual pass is right between two four day trip and two 5 day trips. For DVC member and FL residents.

i have not done the numbers on the incredi-pass

i personally would not give up an annual pass right now, because you can get a new one!
Why do you keep bumping up threads from a year ago??

we renewed this last july over phone, activated in person and got socerers pass with MM and we are resale. We used it in Nov 2021 and again on recent April 2022 trip! Going to renew again this July before the expire date in sept 2022 for fall short trip again.

Just be aware that they had stopped letting those not eligible for Sorcerer to get it.

So, if you do not have a qualified membership it’s possible they won’t let you renew. Just be prepared.

New AP certificates have a one year expiration. I'm not sure exactly what this means because we have not let any expire...

It just means that if you don’t activate an AP certificate within one year of purchase, it is no longer valid to purchase a new AP at the same price you bought the voucher. If there has been a price increase, you will owe the difference.

My plan to buy a new one is so that I can get my renewal date adjusted from Spring, back to summer or fall which fits better in our travel times.

Put me in the renew bucket. I have been doing the same calculus myself. I do not want to invest in Disney right now - I am likely going to be slowing down my trips and may only take 1 trip next year based on what DW and I were talking about.

That means that it would be cheaper to drop the AP and buy reg tix. However, given that I can't get AP's back, I am inclined to pay a little extra so I can keep my AP.

will find out this july when I call to renew again! They sold us Gold few years back when we went to Guest services and just have been renewing. Weird I know.

Did you call? What happened?

I realize this is a zombie thread, but I thought this was terrible advice. If OP's pass was to expire in the summer ant they weren't planning on going until November, why would you renew it so far in advance of your trip? That's just days wasting away on the pass. It's going to expire 12 months from the day you renew the pass. Maybe the pass clock doesn't start until you actually scan in the first time at the park? That's not the way DL APs worked back when we used to buy them. What I would advise instead is to wait until you go to get the pass, and make the first day be a day the pass would ordinarily be blacked out. Buy a regular admission ticket for that day, then go to guest services some time that day and apply your ticket to the cost of the AP. Bingo! You just used your shiny new pass on a blacked out day.

That and buy the pass with Disney gift cards bought at Target with your Red card to save 5%...

First, the use of ticket to upgrade to a block out day pass was stopped last year after new APs went on sale.

Second, if APs are not in sale, not renewing could mean you are without a pass and stuck with multi day tickets until they do.

While normally, I agree going a few months without a trip makes renewing silly, it isn’t when you can’t get a new one to replace it months later. I’d much rather have my pass start in the fall than in the summer, it’s now March due to Covid extensions and I am stuck with it until new passes come into play.

didnt call yet, july we were hit with so many unexpected bills that renewing was not in budget. Need to call this coming week and get that done because we go to wdw Oct 31-nov4 and then again april 2023 for 7-8 days . So renewing is smart to cover these trips. We do still have 2 nonexpiring days left on old tix so if we chose to not renew we would use those this fall and the spring buy 5 day base tickets and enjoy other things . With the way things cost nowadays we need to plan many scenarios!

Question regarding this as I hadn't thought about it. So, our incredi-pass AP would renew on Dec 26, which I hate. We are always there sometime in late December so it would typically be mid trip, this year we happen to be leaving on Dec 24, so it won't cause "issues" with park passes. Obviously if we just renew normally 60 days out we'll get the renewal rate vs. the full new purchase price. That I can do online since there is no DVC perks with this pass.

Here's my question.....

If we call and renew via DVC would we 1) get the renewal discount rate and 2) would it be done as a certificate or would it be a normal renewal.

We 99% won't go back until mid-June and I'd rather our renewal period be during summer instead of December.

So, I guess my question is...can we get the best of both worlds -- renew via DVC and get a certificate that we can activate in mid-June but also get the renewal price? Guessing not, but thought I'd ask somebody who might have the answer.

wanted to add the original post I made we did yes renew from gold to sorcerer. now this fall would be to renew again for this next set of 2 trips fall 2022 and spring 2023! Have sorcerer now, dont need MM
