Who: My new hubbie Brian (27), along for the ride
Me, Renessa (24), planner extraordinaire
Thursday, The 4th of July
We were up early, and to AK by 9A, but like the rumors- they opened the parks all an hour early. I wanted to see the awakening, but we were too late. The place was empty, so it worked out fine. We headed straight to the safari, then the jungle trek, on to Kali, and then the other walk thru exhibit. We saw Tarzan, FP for Primeval Whirl (rough- short- once was enough), and Dino. Then we found Flame Tree, bought two meal tickets and grabbed lunch. Brian had the ½ chicken and I got the ribs. They were both made with the same seasoned dry rub, but we agreed the ribs were superior. The sides were beans and corn on the cob. We talked with a great CM who told us the best spot for the parade, but that it probably would be canceled due to the weather. We shopped for a while, then it started to storm and we grabbed and ice cream and drink from cart vendors (certificates) and headed back to CBR. We got showers and naps, and got ready for dinner at Ohanas. We waited in the lounge and were seated shortly. Dinner was wonderful, as was my Pina Colada and Brians Mai Tai. We had a perfect view of the castle for fireworks, but didnt want to hold the table as many other diners obviously were (already done eating when we got there, still there 1.5 hours later when we left.). We were so excited to have our only DIS meeting- but I regret to have forgotten her name (if you are reading this please email it to me so I can add your name in, sorry!) Our server said the beach would be a good spot to see fireworks, and there was no security, so we found a seat and enjoyed the show. The perimeter fireworks were spectacular, we were thrilled! Then we headed to MK. ** They were so full that they were routing everyone onto main street, then behind the set in the cast member only areas on the back lot. We stayed in roped off areas all the way to the Tomorrow land theatre. They had the large doors open to let us in the park, while they were getting other out the same way! It was need to see the back facades of the buildings! We did Small World (10 min), Presidents (8 min), and then rode the train around the loop to Main Street. We managed to catch the early Spectro again, and left as they were about to start the Midnight showing. We had a great 4th, and were ready for some sleep!
