Removing the sorcerer's hat at DHS?

I don't know if there is any truth to this rumour but the new maps have been printed without the huge sorcerer's hat on them. Also, the backlot tour is also on this map. Any ideas?

The inclusion of backlot is weird. The exclusion of the hat is encouraging. I've seen the earful tower appear on various materials instead of the hat, so you never know.

Since this is not the official Disney map that you find in the parks, I will keep my celebration in reserve. This is the map placed in rest stops, outside hotels, etc. Now if I go to DHS and pick up a map and the hat is gone, well...

Also worth mentioning - RunDisney has cancelled the Tower of Terror 10 Mile race for 2015 that is held every October. Let the construction rumors commence...

Well, according to the rumors, that's the idea: to rebrand Hollywood Studios completely. The park requires drastic changes, so I'm quite positive about all these rumors.

These are disney maps that include all four parks in one brochure that are given at offsite resorts. They are normally changed once or twice a year. This map still includes the backlot tour but is missing the planters and such around where the hat would be. The MK map in this brochure includes the mine train but not the tangled bathroom area.

Correct and it's already started construction is underway in the sound stage 1 building as we speak. Most of the props have been removed from the backlot.

We were in the parks as part of a special package recently and were told by the CM working with us that the hat would be removed and Backlot was gone to make way for a new attraction. Noticed the rest of our trip that the water tower has replaced the hat on nearly all 2014 merchandise. RunDisney also discontinued TOT 10-miler race with an after party in the park for 2015 (as mentioned) while advertising the 2015 marathon through all four parks using the water tower instead of the hat. All rumors & speculation for now, but there certainly seems to be a concerted effort away from the hat as the park icon. And if RunDisney decisions are any indication of anticipated timeline there shouldn't be much time before an announcement...

I would expect early 2015 for some announcements and construction to start.

Awww..I hope the hat stays but DHS definately needs an update. The only reason we included DHS park in our July 2014 vaca was due to the "Frozen Summer". Love the Great Movie Ride and would hate to see that go too.

Can wait for the hat to be gone. Always hated seeing that thing instead of seeing Grauman's Chinese Theater at the end of the strip. This is the original look.

I also heard they are rebranding the park. Disney Hollywood Adventure seems to be the front runner for new park name.

But it makes me wonder, could they be removing the hat just to replace it with a new park icon to fit the "new" park?

I've heard several plans that the hat wouldn't be removed but just moved to a new location. I have also heard that disney Hollywood adventure is a likely new name.
