Per our divorce settlement, I keep our DVC points.. Good thing since my inheritance paid for them, but I digress. I contacted to see what I needed to do. They emailed me a form, and said they could do,the transfer for '$450. That seems to be a lot of $$$$. I did not have an attorney for the divorce (didn't need one). Does anyone have any suggestions on getting this done without paying Disney more $$. If it makes any difference, I am in Pennsylvania. And the points are paid in full

You are changing the deed with the state of Florida and a notary needs to be involved... pay the fee and be done with it knowing the points are all yours! :) Sadly I don't know of any way to do this without the fees associated going to varying pockets along the way.

You may be able to do it cheaper with your own Notary but there will still be fees in involved.

Actually, 450$ isn't that bad compared to some other quotes I've heard.

Probably requires new deed, so standard closing costs including processing and filing fees and title insurance.

Forum member Dean should be able to give you the steps to do this for much less.

Seems cheap to me in comparison to what contracts and vacations cost. I would pay and get to over with.

That's a great price compared to others I've heard... and it's relatively easy. I'd take that quote and go for the easier route, unless the cost is too high for you to currently handle- in which case I'd pursue what another posted above to do it yourself.

I'm with the others.
You saved money without an attorney for the divorce. Pay the $500 and be done with it knowing that everything will run smoothly and you have your DVC to yourself :goodvibes
Hope you get to plan a trip very soon!

I'm assuming no loan. $450 is pretty high in this situation because there's no escrow and no need for title insurance. You can do it yourself easily or if you want someone else to do it, there are companies that are less. I think Timeshare Transfers is $95 plus recording fees but you still have to do the ROFR yourself which is easy anyway. I think the closing company that TSS uses will do it for less in this situation as well so you may want to check with them. You can do it yourself for maybe $50. If you're afraid or want to try to get it done faster, there certainly are ways to get it done. If it's not in FL, this does complicate things a bit but given the info you provided, I suspect it is. Good luck.

I had to do this two years ago with my divorce and I paid the $450 fee - aside from the $$ pain, it was easy to do. I wasn't aware of the information Dean presented and might have tried to go through TSS. I wanted to do it quick and clean and that was why I paid the $$ and went through Disney.
