Removing Anti-Virus From Computer

Does anyone know how to remove 'McAfee' antivirus program from your computer? It will not let me under 'add/remove programs'. Thanks!

or control panel..see if there's a folder marked mcaffee..delete it that way..or else try your search function..search for files..mcaffee..it should list a fairly big program where it's stored..good luck!

Click on "Start", then "programs" and then McAffee. Does it have an Uninstall there? I know my Norton does.

Some programs cannot be removed via add/remove when they are running. Try disabling your auto protect before running add/remove. If that doesn't work, try taking it out of your Startup menu - things that are loaded when Windows launches. Make sure you are NOT online when doing this since you will obviously no be protected once it is disabled & removed. If you need further instructions, you can PM me.

Try other methods before just deleting the McAfee folder, though. You can leave bits & pieces behind that way.

Just curious - are you changing to another anti-virus program? If so, which one?

Also, to have it not load at boot (thereby most likely letting you uninstall it) you can go to 'start' ,'run' and type 'msconfig' (no quote marks). Go to the Startup tab and uncheck the box that enables it. Apply then reboot.

As said, make sure you do have some antivirus to replace it.
