Remove rain jacket on ride?

No issues with umbrellas anywhere. Now, we didn't do something like go sit at F! with them or stand to watch Wishes, just walking in the park. Only time we had to do anything with them was going through the turnstiles. They make you take it down then but they are under cover so no issue.

We keep Disney shopping bags to put them in. Easy to carry since they have a handle. And umbrellas come in handy even when it's sunny since they are instant shade too.
Thanks for sharing your experience. I have no idea where my friend was coming from, but she had me questioning myself!

Honestly, I wish everyone wearing wet outerwear, whether it's a poncho or a rain jacket, would remove them when entering any indoor attraction. We always do, because a poncho worn indoors is like wearing a sauna. I don't like saunas. We take them off, shake them, and put them in a plastic bag until were ready to go back outside. It's much nicer in the queues if you don't have strangers brushing you with their wet ponchos, never mind the problem of wet ride seats. Or even worse, wet theatre fabric seats.

Well, in many outdoor locations that have a lot of people they do ban umbrellas. For instance, we can't use them in our football stadiums. I think some other theme parks prohibit them too. Disney just isn't like other theme parks. They allow them.

Yeah, I suppose. It wouldn't occur to me to use them in a place that was obviously obtrusive to other guests, like a parade or Fantasmic. I also wouldn't assume I could wear a poncho during an indoor attraction for the same reason.

Wet ponchos indoors are also a safety concern. Wet floors and seats lead to a slip hazard.

I was actually just telling a friend that I was going to be bringing umbrellas on our upcoming trip because I thought they'd be a lot easier to deal with (for the reason you described). My friend disagrees and thinks umbrellas would get in the way and not be able to be used in many places...I don't agree and don't understand her reasoning - did you ever have issues with your umbrellas being a nusiance to yourself or other guests?

I'm with your friend. YES I have had experiences of them being a nuisance to me.

I'm 5'4". Your umbrella, if you're taller, is in my face. Your umbrella, if you're even taller, is now dripping water ON ME. If you're shorter than me, your umbrella is at my mouth or neck or chest. Your umbrella keeps me from seeing, is a danger to my eyes, and is getting me wetter than I would otherwise be.

Don't bring an umbrella.

I wouldn't use an umbrella if it was crowded and there was any danger of this. In my experience, walkways are pretty empty when it's raining.

NASCAR races prohibit them in the stands. You can't even walk through the gates with an umbrella.

While umbrellas are fine for walking around as long as the person holding the umbrella is aware of the other people around them, I don't like when other people are sitting or standing watching an event and need to have the umbrella up. We once sat in good sets for a Eat to the Beat concert series and it was drizzling but the show would go on. A lady came down, sat right in front of us and opened up an umbrella. We figured she would put it down once the show started but she didn't. We had to go and find a Cast Member after the lady refused to put down the umbrella. So much for our good seats and a relaxing time for a concert.

So, while most people would be fine with umbrellas, there are people who aren't. And the same holds true for ponchos.
