Not sure what to do in this case. I hope someone has some ideas:)
I saw and fell in love with some Hampton Bay lamps I found for our bedside tables today. They were from a Liquidator that buys old stock from other stores (going out of business e.t.c).
So.. I put them all together out of the box and there is a very very musty smell on the shades.
I imagine they came from a store with some water damage. It's pretty overpowering.
Would you attempt to clean the shade or just buy new shades?
They are airing out on the back deck but it's not helping much and they are not going in my room smelling like that:sad2:

I don't know how I would get the smell out. They are white and there isn't a single mark on them. They were cheap and I love the base so I will keep them.
Just wanted to check with you guys before I toss the shades and buy new ones.:)

Have had this with furniture. I bet the stuff is in warehouses, too long, not ventilated, no a/c. who knows....

but fwiw, it really never came out in my case---- I sprayed and cleaned (professional) and it was better, but never leaves. And it's not really healthy I'm guessing.

I think you are probably right.. and looking online it appears that new shades aren't expensive at all. Obviously I'd rather save them if I could..but I think I'll just replace them:)
