Remembering a lost loved one

I am sorry for your loss. Remember that she is always with you so when you are doing something she would have really enjoyed, just give a little smile and remember her. She will be right there with you.

Thank you so much I know she wouldn't choose anywhere else to be than Disney :)

OP - my heart goes out to you. I am sorry for the loss of your mom.

This is so similar to me - and I am sorry for your loss. My dad passed away December 23, 2015. We had taken a big extended family vacation to Disney in October 2014 - my dad's first trip to WDW in 20 years, and my first with him in more like 30. The time spent planning that vacation with him is a memory I'll treasure and remembering him tuly be a kid again on that vacation, enjoying himself immensely in addition to him seeing it through his grandkids' eyes leaves me speechless. Our next trip will likely be in 2017 and I think there will be many bittersweet moments on that trip next time. All I can think is that our last vacation there together was him really trying to wring out every drop of joy in his life (after a lifetime of being a work-a-holic and then a huge health scare that gave him about 18 months of "new life" before he left us) and I'll try to follow his example and make the most of every minute!

My dad's name is Walt and we made some personalized family t-shirts for our last trip. I think I'm going to ask my mom if I can have one of dad's shirts from that trip and make it into a tote bag or something to bring along next time - I think I'll collect character autographs on it!

What a wonderful idea!!! Thanks so much for sharing we definately are having a very similar experience I'm so sorry for your loss.

I'm so sorry for your loss  I lost my Mom this past April to Alzheimer's. She only went to Disney twice-once when she took me as a kid, and the time I took her once I was grown. She loved Beauty and the Beast, I think the pin idea would be a wonderful tribute to her.

Your Mom is with you in your heart, and I'm sure she would want you to celebrate her life by enjoying the same things you always did with her.

Thank you so much I'm sorry to hear of your loss and we are definately dedicating this trip to her and going all out!

I'm very sorry! I lost my dad Oct. of 2015. We went to DL every year as a family for 1972 until 1988 and then he went twice with my family after my kids were born. When I visited DL this last Jan. I started crying as soon as I hit Main St. We had so many great memories there. I was able to enjoy my trip but my dad never left my mind. I think the next trip will be easier.

My moms favorite was to see our reaction when we first saw the castle I know that will be the hard one just getting into the park. Sorry to hear of your loss and I hope your next trip is easier.

Thank you all so much it's very comforting to know your not alone in such a lonely time.

I tried to respond to each of you I'm not usually a poster on here and I have to admit I got lost in so many touching posts that I'm sorry if I didn't reply to you. Thank you all so much we will definately be riding Splash Mountain for Mom it was her favorite last trip we rode 5 times!!! As well as searching for her favorite character pins!

You are all so beautiful and thank you so much for sharing your stories I'm so sorry for the loss so many are expierencing and I wish you all the most precious of magic on your next trips!

I'm so very sorry for your loss. My mom had Breast Cancer. She passed suddenly on Dec. 8, 2015 from a massive heart attack. Chemo had weakened her heart. In a very sad piece of irony she passed two days after I returned with my family. Her and my dad were supposed to go, but she was told not to go anywhere with large crowds. I never got to show her the pics from that trip, but my last conversation with her was about WDW. We are bringing my dad in August because he missed that trip and I want him to experience WDW with my DD. I plan on going on the rides my mom liked as well as the ones we talked about that my DD liked.

I'm also having jewelry made with my mom's handwriting and will wear it on the trip.

My prayers are with you during this time. I understand how difficult this time must be. I think just being at a place you enjoy and taking a moment to remember the good times is a great way to remember your mom. Feel free to pm me if you need an ear.

Thank you so much and I'm so sorry for your loss I bet that jewelry will be such a wonderful thing to have.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I think it would be a good gesture to spread some pixie dust in her honor while you're on the trip. Buy someone else a balloon, give away some Disney stickers to kids, go meet her favorite characters, perhaps get that characters autograph and frame it when you get home. Losing loved ones is so hard, but it's good to remember the good times and pay it forward in their memory. Have a fantastic trip!

we have had more miscarriages than anyone should have to deal with.

We remember our children by paying for a couple balloons for kids behind us, and we release a balloon together during Wishes.
