I know a family whose young daughter has recently passed away. She LOVED WDW. They are going this summer and would like to have a way of remembering her. Any ideas? Thanks!

My dad passed away 2 months before our last trip. He loved the Mickey premium ice cream bars & always teasingly asked me to bring one home for him. So DH & I had an ice cream in front of the castle, toasted dad & sent a picture out to my mom & sibs. Simple & meaningful for me & my family. Nonintrusive to everyone else.

What did she like best? Mickey bars? Pin trading? Consider doing something nice for other guests in her honor. Maybe eat at her favorite restaurant and share happy memories.

Last year when we went I brought a small sign (5 X 7 ish) with me that had a name on it and took a pic with Mickey. I held the sign and Mickey held the other side. I whispered to the handler it was for a little boy I knew who passed away who loved Disney. I think she told Mickey. They were very nice and gentle about the situation, while keeping it discreet. His mama loved it.

If she had a favorite movie or character, the family could get coordinating t-shirts from that movie/character (Etsy, Pinterest and our very own creative DISigns forum here have great ideas) and - that way, the photos they get throughout the park will all have a nod to their loved one. Definitely get a picture with a character from that movie as well.

My mom passed away last summer. We have several things planed in memory of her. The first is we are staying at animal kingdom lodge as she always wanted to stay there. We will eat at raglan roads her favorite restraunt and make sure to ride her favorite ride it's a small world

A poster on the DLR board brings a figment stuffed toy around and takes pictures of figment at various dining locations and such (that's where I'm getting this idea). If the family member had a favorite character, maybe buy a stuffed toy of that character (if she didn't already have one..if she had one, bring that one) and have them in all of the photos of the trip?

What kinds of things would make her smile? Why not bring that joy to another child in her memory? Buy a stranger a balloon or popcorn or ice cream! Hand out stickers to kids on the bus or glow sticks while waiting for the nighttime parade!
