Remember When....

As OP...I am going to be post 100....

Hey--a non-disney thing...but does anybody remember Boardwalk and Baseball? Our family combined that with disney trip once--real cheap tickets and a non-crowded park (no wonder it isn't around anymore :hyper: )

I remember those uncomfortable strollers--the pre-purple era. Rickety rickety rickety. I was so sad when mom busted my bubble that I couldn't push my sister in one the next time we went to Disney when I was bigger. I guess at age 4/5...I expected her to stay baby size forever :hyper:

Also---I miss my Diamond Horseshoe Jamboree--when they would take your order at the table and you could have a light lunch--upset when they changed it to counter service and even further disappointed when Goofy, Jesse and the gang moved in (though DD loves it!).

Before Boardwalk & Baseball it was Circus World and I went there twice. It was a lot of fun.

We too went to Circus World, I think in '78. I remember my brother and me getting our faces painted like clowns and walking the tight rope.

Hey--does anyone know why they took the skyway down? I miss my shortcut from Fantasyland to Tomorrowland and back.

Was it safety, or just low numbers?

We stayed at the PR for Concierge and I remember when we had to go to the King Kamehameha (sp?) room in the lobby where the ocean art (Lassen?) studio is right now. Oh the hard work we had to do for those "free" pastries :)

This is just a rumor i heard BUT

In DL some guy either spat from it wanted to jump or some sillty thing like that and they closed that one. Then they thought the problem may occur in WDW so they pulled the plug there as well.

Dont know how much truth is in that but thats what i heard...

I remember when the CR had the movie theater in the game room. We saw The Apple Dumpling Gang and the Rescuers, good times......

i remember when the POly has the most wonderful, beautiful buffet. Each and every woman and girl got a lei of real orchards to wear. I remember the piles of stemed shrimp on t he end of the buffet and How my darling son cleaned them for his sister to eat.

Flower beds at the entrance to Epcot.

Exxon Universe of Energy

World of Motion?
(is that the right name?)

When you could ride double-decker buses around World Showcase.

The World Showcase site reserved for 'Africa'

The Boardwalk tram that ran from International Gateway to Swan/Dolphin

When all the captains on Jungle Cruise had revolvers.

When Disney Institute ran courses.

I remember all these things-and the present entrance to Epcot makes me cry, when I think of how beautiful the entrance used to be.
Also, anyone remember the cafeteria style eatery at CP before the current Winnie the Pooh meal?
Being "evaluated" at the Coach's Corner in Wonders of Life?
When the only way to get to MK was by either monorail or ferry, before the big bus station there?
Being able to get dressed up like a Pirate and have your picture taken at Lafite's photo, outside POTC?
And has anyone mentioned Melvin the Moose-"Wake up, you silly Moose!" at the Melvin the Moose character breakfast?

Yes I remember the cafeteria style at CP. They had the most wonderfful fruit salads.

I also remember when everyone of the countries in WS had MIckey and Minnie dressed up in a costume of that country

Remember the Main Street Electrical Parade. I still remember the music (there were no lyrics).

I also remember the Cricle Vision theater (now Timekeepers) 'presented by Monsanto'. It had a movie about America - I always remember one scene from the back of a ladder truck racing through sone city (I think it was San Francisco).

I also remember the original Hall of Presidents - the story was much better - because it was not so politically correct - than the current iteration.

I remember when you exited the Country Bears Jamboree into a restaurant there was another set of the animal heads (Max, Melvin & Buff) hanging on the wall that would talk every so often.

I also remember the Circlevision movie, America the Beautiful I believe was the name. On our first trip my Grandmother got dizzy after seeing it.

This is going to sound crazy, but one time in Epcot, way before Innoventions, my dad and I stumbled into an out-of-the-way auditorium in Communicore (?) where they had an audience poll sort of show. They asked the audience questions about random, ordinary things like which direction you put your toilet paper roll on the holder. Every seat had a voting pad on the armrest, and after everyone answered, the results would come up on a screen so everyone could see. It sounds so Who Wants to Be a Millionaire now. But back then it was really cool! lol We never found it again.

That is not crazy at all. I also went into that opinion poll place.
Anyone remember when they used to take you back stage in communicore and show you how all the computers worked?

1. Wedway People Mover
2. Mr. Toad's Wild Ride
3. The dragon/lochness monster topiary along the main road...for
that matter, the abundance of topiaries everywhere
4. 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea
5. If you had wings....if you had wings...if you had wings..had
wings, had wings
6. Delta Dreamflight...once you've taken a dreamflight....

How about does anyone remember the man who used to perform in front on Japan in the WS. He used to make animals and do magic tricks and had a cart with all sorts of things hanging from it. He was wonderful. The last time we saw him was when we went back in 1998.
