Remember the "THAT Family" thread - can we do it again??

I need some good laughs. Last year when planning our Dec 09 trip I was on here all the time and found a thread called something like "We were THAT family". People told stories of when they and their families were THAT family who lost it in WDW in some form or another. It was hilarious. It went on for pages, and I remember staying up late reading it and laughing out loud at my computer (and my DH thought I was nuts).

So can we do it again and maybe get some new stories from the last year or from new people who didn't know about the original thread? (for you expert DIS-ers out there - if you can post a link to the thread, great!).

Ok now for my THAT family story although it really should be THAT crazy pregnant lady because that's what I was. My poor mother and son were only the bystanders :lmao:

We arrived last year on a Wed in early December. I had the whole trip planned out - it was our first trip as I family plus my parents. My parents and I had been years before when I was a kid - but this was the first recent trip. So on our first full day - Thurs - we had the following happen - DS (3) had the runs, DH started having massive tooth pain, and my Mom fell walking out of MK at the end of MVMCP (she was ok but sore). So on Friday all my plans were shot to H&$%. My dad offered to stay in the villa with my sick DS and my DD who needed a nap. DH took our rental minivan to go get an emergency root canal. Mom, older DS, and I decided to make the best of it and go to HS. Well on the way there the skies open up and it is POURING rain. I had my ponchos but they were the $1 cheapies that I soon found out are crap. So mom, DS, and I get soaked (my jeans were wet halfway up my calf). I'm getting hungry (oh - did I mention I was 4 months pregnant). We start heading to the QS food court. Come to find out that all the seating is outside. In the pouring rain (at least that is all we could find). The only CM we could find was the DVC sales guy under a tent along the side walk. That's when I pretty much lost it :headache: Went off on him about why there were no places to eat INSIDE. He tells me to go to a TS but I loudly exclaimed how all my ADRs were set in stone 90 days ago and I was NOT changing them, etc. Poor guy. It all ended with me, tears rolling down my face, yelling "This has been the trip from H$%^ and I just want to go HOME". :scared1: I stormed off with mom and DS following me. Walked all the way to the buses, went back to SSR, got our food from their food court, bused back to THV, had my sandwich and took a nap. The trip did get better over the next few days but I'm still totally embarrassed by my crazy behavior that day.

I totally remember that thread too! I don't have any stories about WDW - yet. We are going next year with DD who will be 2, my parents, & my MIL. I definitely forsee some "THAT family" stories in our future. For now I'll just have to laugh at everyone else's stories. ;)

I think we may have been "that family" our first trip in August 2007. We mistakenly took my oversensitive, highstrung 8 year old DS to It's Tough To be A Bug. Upon exiting he had a total meltdown right in the middle of the walkway. We all stopped midtraffic while he tantrummed that we had ruined his life. My DH, DD and DN all walked away in embarrassment while I dealt with the meltdown. We quickly made our way to a souvenir shop to "cool"down in the airconditioning. After about 15 minutes and many soothing words we were able to move on with our day. But, not EVER bringing him back to that show!

I wasn't "in" Disney per se. I forgot my beloved teddy bear on our trip in September in the hotel sheets. I usually don't bring him, but since becoming pregnant, it's habit to sleep with him because he's comfortable. When we got home, I was hysterical. I called AKL in tears and got through to housekeeping, who asked what I was looking for. In between sniffs and huffs (literally at points hiccuping) I finally described my bear and they said "I have him right here." I guess this wouldn't be so embarrassing, if I wasn't 31. :confused3

That is too funny. I'm sure we could fill a whole thread with stories of odd behavior while pregnant! :rotfl: In two of my four pregnancies I backed into our garage door. How you might wonder? Well it was chilly and I decided to go get in the car first and then open it and leave for work. Only I forgot to open the door and backed right into it! :scared1: My husband gave me such a hard time about it - teasing - until he did it once and I asked him "What, are YOU pregnant now??" :lmao:

Last year we went to Disneyland to celebrate DD 7's birthday. We also had her 18 month old brother with us. We thought they'd enjoy Pirates of the Caribbean. Stupid us. DD HATES drops of any kind, so as soon as the first 'drop' happened (they are small) she starts wailing. Then DS decides he hates the dark and starts wailing. So we were "that family" with the 2 screaming children for the entire Pirates ride.
Needless to say, when DS started talking about riding Pirates this year, we just ignored him! :-)

Oh my, I became psycho mom on our last evening at the World! We had just spent 6 very hot, very long days touring non stop. After checking out of POR, we spent the day at MK and left around 6pm and checked into a hotel right outside of the property for the night. We still had some CS credits left so DH suggested we go to DTD to use them. I was starving, hot and tired and DH takes us to Cookes of Dublin. Now mind you, I had never been to Cookes of Dublin, and neither had he. But I DID NOT want to eat there. I can't tell you why, I'm sure it's lovely but I was not feeling it. I really just wanted to be laying in some air conditioning resting my weary feet. I threw the biggest hissy fit ever while my family was eating. Complaining that I didn't like this crap, etc etc etc. And to top off my great mood, there were no seats. Not a one. So we had to sit on the ground which only fueled me more :rotfl: I'm sure I put on quite the show for everyone who was walking past us. I'm quite sure that my then 3 year old was acting much more appropriately then her 30 something Momma....:lmao:

DH did make it up to me by taking me to Goofy's and getting me some candy and then we stopped at Marketplace snacks for some late evening hot dogs. I'm embarrassed just typing it all out, so if you saw me that night...don't remind me how immature I was:rolleyes1

In 2008, I as THAT person. We took my nephew with us. DN and DS fought the entire time. It was hot and humid. It was super crowded! Word of advice: don't go to Star Wars Weekend at DHS the same day as Gay Days and the opening weekend of Toy Story Mania. Yeah, fun. I learned my lesson. Never again. I will skip new rides for a while.
Anyway, the boys fought all day long about everything. Until last December DS was an only child. I am not used to dealing with this stuff. They fought over who would stand where, who would order what because we all know that you can't order the same thing. They only sell you one of each. OMG! I was ready to kill them. After standing in line for TSMM for over two hours and listening to them argue about where to stand, who was getting on first, who was doing what, I just lost it. I very loudly told them I was done. Here were their tickets, their room keys, and handed boyfriend money so they could eat. Then I announced I was leaving. :rotfl: Thankfully, boyfriend stepped in (why didn't he do THAT earlier?) and made the boys stop fighting and me stay. The rest of the trip went like a charm. I think I scared them.
