only 266 days till my first trip to disney

what was the most magic thing that happened to u at disney world. if anyone can remember how they felt before thier first trip to disney. like waking up to get ready to go to the airport. how did it feel and were u even able to fall asleap knowing whats ahead?

I remember my first trip well. It was a "sampler" of various attractions in Orlando. We stayed outside the park and visited Disney 4 days (one park a day), Universal twice, and Daytona Beach one day. I was excited, but I was also obsessed with planning and seeing everything. I didn't have time to get too excited because I was "on a mission". My take home message from that trip was that Disney was awesome.

I actually got more excited with my second trip, since I returned just to stay at Disney. I jumped up and down like a kid when I booked that trip. I was soooooo excited for that trip and it was truely great. I kept worrying that something would go wrong before the trip and we would have to cancel. But everything was great.

I have had 3 more trips to Orlando /Disney since then. I get more excited for these trips then I do for anything else. There is no place as magical as the world. :wizard:

Have fun!

My DH and I were excited when it started to become close...a few months, turned into a month, then a few weeks, then a week, then the day/night before. I couldn't sleep the night before we flew. We were excited being in the airport, on the plane, riding the bus to the parks, checking in, sitting down having a meal, checking out DTD...it slowly sank in. What really sank in was the first day going to the parks...I looked up to my DH in the hotel room about to leave, and I started tearing up and saying, "We're finally here. We're finally on our honeymoon!"

I remember thinking there was nothing there for me. :rotfl2: I only went because my nephew, who is like a son to me, wanted me to go. I was so overwhelmed that before I entered my first park(MK) I had my park-hopper converted into an Annual Pass just because our resort was so cool(WL)...best move I ever made!!!

How could I ever forget our first family trip (and only my 2nd time at WDW--12 years after my 1st)? It was the first time DS flew on a plane and when we finally got to MCO, we asked him where we were--to which he happily replied "Disney World". Absolutely adorable.

Or how about that first night when we went to DTD to eat and shop and he rode his very first "Disney" ride--the carousel we actually paid to take him on.

Or Day 1 at MGM when we ran full force to see Minnie near the big hat and she just swooped him into her arms. Priceless memory!

My sister and I were 9 and 11 respectively, and I clearly remember my sister making a "Florida or bust" sign and sticking it on our car!! LOL!!! We were going through so many emotions. My dad was waiting to hear about a HUGE new job (he would find out later in Disney that he got the job), mom had just been let go from her job, we had never been on a plane before (any of us), we were finally going to Disney.... it was a big ball of stress and excitement.

I do remember being awed by the Carribean Beach so much that we couldn't even imagine how the trip could get better, and we hadn't even got to the parks yet!!!

The first trip and our last trip as a family before I got married were by far the most amazings ones that we took. I hope you have a million memories when you get back. :)

Visiting Disney World had been a childhood dream of mine, I was finally able to go when I turned 18 on a school trip.

We arrived in Orlando and I believe we stayed at the Holiday Inn across from Universal. The day before at the hotel I was pacing back and forth knowing that my dream would finally come true the next day. But I don't remember having a hard time falling sleep.

The next day the wake up call came and my eyes opened real big and my heart started beating so hard..... I was face down on my bed when I woke up and my heart was beating so hard that I thought it was going to burst out of my chest, my ears were picking up the heart beat noise through the mattress if that makes any sense.

The next couple of hours were a blur but I remember standing on Main Street and thinking "finally."

No wonder I made it a life goal to move to Orlando and worked at it until it became true! Now I wouldn't have it any other way. :cloud9:

I hope you have a magical vacation.

The first trip we ever went on was when we were 7 (back in 1981), I remember stepping off the plane (when you still walked on the tarmatt) and the HEAT and HUMIDITY hit me like a tonne of bricks! LOL We went on our first "big" rollercoaster (SPace Mountain), went swimming ALOT and got Swimmers ear. We stayed at a Marriott on I drive. We rode a trolley and went to a fun house. I also remember going on 20000 leagues under the sea, thinking that the octopus was real. I don't really remember how I felt, we also went back when we were about 13 (1987) at stayed at Fort Wilderness..that was GREAT I loved the "cabin" we stayed in. We went to River Country which I loved. Then we were back when we were 16 (1990) (went on the Disney Cruise--when it was still the Oceananic), we got to go around the parks by ourselves...but of course we kept bumping into our family! LOL Great times...our first trip by ourselves was in 1999.

I always got hosed when it came to going to Disney as a kid. Many promises, but they were never delivered :sad1: My dad was out of the country a lot for business--this was during the 80's when mergers and acquisitions was the big deal career. The worst let down EVER was when I had to pick between a trip to Spain for language class (with the c-u-t-e boy who later became my Dh) or...yeppers...a trip to Disney---I chose Disney over the cute boy and Spain--which for a junior in high school is a big deal :)

And guess what--hosed again--I didn't go to Disney, and that was my last chance for a family vacation trip of my dreams

Fast-forward a tad and that aforementioned cute boy equals db...during our senior year in college then db (but really Df :ssst: ) brought up going to Disney for our spring break trip :cool1: I'm in...we planned and financed the whole thing ourselves (hello debt, tips from waiting tables only got us so far :rotfl: )
But it was all going to be worth it...

Once we got there...and we crossed onto main street...my Df who had visited MANY times during his youth and was a Disney freak was all gushing about how great the magic and wait till we...

"Where are all the roller coasters and stuff, how about the games and everything...so they have all the big-big rides in a different place"

This was all from me. I thought he was going to :faint: :scared:
Remember, folks, I had gotten hosed all those years and was still young and didn't know of the magic...but it didn't take me long to discover it--that same day something happened and I KNEW I was hooked forever.

We Disneymooned there in 1999 and have gone back every year since. I can't wait to take my children there (when we have some  ) so they don't have to go through what I did--woo-hoo :earboy2:

My first trip was as a teenager(1973)-Oh the angst!! Now, I've been to WDW about 20 times and I still can't sleep the night before our trips!!

I remember going as an 8-year old in 1976 for the first time. I didn't really know what to expect but coming to sunny Florida from ice cold Massachusetts in February was amazing :goodvibes

We stayed at the Contemporary and my 6-year old brother and I thought that was the best thing ever. I can actually remember getting on to the elevator and pressing every button. Little hoodlums :rotfl:

My first park memory is walking in and seeing Alice in Wonderland standing there. It was so unbelievable to me. At 8, I should have known that she was a CM, but I truly don't think that I did. It just hit me that I was going to see real CHARACTERS ... I was probably hooked for life at that moment.

My first trip was in 1986, and I was about 15. I know that I was so excited because number one, I never was there before, but I had friends who would rave about it. I remember getting postcards from two of my friends over the years when they went, and I would get so upset that I haven't been there yet. Finally my Mom said it was time for us to go!!!!! I was soooooo excited! It was also the first time that I was on an airplane, and I was excited about that as well......WDW was more than I ever imagined! Seeing the castle for the first time, and SSE, just took my breath away!

Also, I remember going on 20k and just being amazed, even though I was 15, the effects were still awesome to me, and just the whole concept of that attraction always stayed with me in my mind! Pure fun!!!!

The only downfall was that we stayed offsite, but I will still have very very wonderful memories of my first trip to WDW.

My first trip in my 40 years was just this past January. As you can see from my signature, I am now hooked!

My biggest and best memory was seeing the Castle up close for the first time. I became 6 years old again, twirling and with wide open eyes exclaiming to my fiance "I can't believe it! I'm standing in front of Cinderella's Castle" as if she was really in there living happily ever after with Prince Charming!

Walking around World Showcase comes next...sipping champagne, holding hands, absorbing other cultures, eating pastry in France...completely romantic.

It hasn't even been a year yet for me as a Disney lover, but I doubt I'll ever get over the wonder every time I go back. It's always like the first time.

Leading up to our first trip as a family to WDW was actually quite stressful because my dad had just gotten out of the hospital after having surgery. I kept waiting for something to happen that would keep us from getting to go. Our DS was 9 and our DD was 5 and they were so excited about this trip! The night before we left we spent the night at a hotel near the airport. After coming back to our room from a swim there was a message on our phone to come to the hotel desk for a message. I just knew something must have happened to my dad and we would have to put our Disney plans on hold. The message at the desk was a fax from Mickey Mouse saying he was excited about our coming to Walt Disney World and that he'd see us tomorrow! My wonderful sister-in-law had sent the message to my kids!

We had the most magical first trip ever! Seeing my kids faces when they met Mickey for the first time was priceless! We've been able to go 4 more times since then including this past summer with both kids who are now 19 and 15!

I think it just gets better and better no matter how old my kids are! We've had many magical moments including one when they were 8 and 12 when we were chosen to ride with Brer Bear and Brer Fox on Splash Mountain! Last summer we took a Wishes Cruise for our 22nd wedding anniversary which was awesomel!

I envy you to just be starting out on your first trip! I would love to start over and do it all again with my family!

WOW!! Reading all of you guys posts makes me even more excited than I already am. We leave in 11 days for me and DS9's first trip to the WORLD!!! My DH is really making my dreams come true pixiedust: , he's been twice back in the 80's so he's not quite as excited as I am. Come to think of it neither is DS9, what's with them?!?

I'm already having problems getting to sleep at night thinking of everything I've read on the disboards and the rides I've researched, and most of all having my character meals.

Thanks for all of your great memories, I can't wait to share mine.

Ah the good old days.. so long ago that i'll have to use sepia-text to tell the story :thumbsup2

I remember getting lost at the age of 12 on our way to PotC

I remember my dad running across one of the timed fountains and not getting a drop of water on him

And I remember my aunt freaking out because she thought someone was chasing her down the Port Orleans Riverside path with a chainsaw (which turned out to be a leaf blower)

I don't remember my first trip as much as I would like! I was in the 7th grade and I LOST my dad's camera! We have no photos from the trip! :sad1:
It was in the days WAY before disposables! :rotfl:

I do remember loving the hotel...we stayed at The Poly! I think my parents paid maybe $65 a night, if that. It was the most beautiful hotel I'd ever seen. I also remember my 1st ride on Space Mountain, loving Haunted Mansion (still a favorite) and of all
things the Tiki Birds! I thought they were so cool!

It was a while before my next trip...but on my nieces and nephews 1st trip...a large family trip...I remember my 2 year old nephew giving Pooh a big kiss on the nose at Crystal Palace and my brother (not a big Disney fan like me) getting all teary eyed and when we took my 5 year old niece to the princess breakfast at Askerhaus...and I will NEVER forget this...she was sitting at the table in her Jasmine costume, not eating, just looking around at the Princesses and very quietly just to herself she said......."Am I in a dream?"
It's one of my most cherished Disney memories.

Yep, 1st times are the best....... :goodvibes

I was so excited leading up to my first trip, first time wdw, first on a plane, in fact first time out of England. since I was a small child always wanted to go to wdw. The night before the excitement went and was replaced by nerves, have I got the tickets? passports? will the plane crash?. The next morning due to jet lag was up at 4.00am. and raring to go. Arrived at MK via the ferry from TTC and walking into the park was amazing and the first thing we saw was Mickey and we just stood in awe. seemed to be a dream and It was really surreal and it wasnt until we watched the parade that it finally hit home and I cried buckets. Best time every and we have just booked for next August, and cant wait. :cheer2:

ahh, my very first WDW trip... boy does that topic bring back memories :goodvibes . Being on the very end of the "Boomers" I grew up watching old Walt every Sunday evening on TV :) . Fast forward a few years and I was a newly married young thing living in Pensacola FL( DH was in the navy) DH had a few days off so we decided to drive to WDW. In those days it was just the MK :teeth: So we drove and drove AND drove all the way across FL. It didn't look THAT far on the map :confused3 .We finally arrived, checked in at our Lake Buena Vista hotel(the Howard Johnson) and headed to MK via the hotel shuttle. When I saw those topiaris of the fantasia hippos I just about peed my pants :rotfl2:. Even though there was only one park. 2 disney monorail resorts and everything else was still just a gleam in some immagineers eye, it was soooo magical we just had to keep coming back. And after so many return trips I've lost track, I can sincerely say we always find the "magic" each and every time. My name is Sallie and I'm a Disney addict :rotfl: .
