I think its really sad that this family has had to become so acquainted with cancer and the destruction it reaps. I can't bring myself to judge a man for his belief in his god, however. I don't share the same beliefs, and I think medicine is a wonderful thing. But, its his life, his death and his god. I hope he and his family find solace in their religion in this difficult and tragic time.

I do, however, fully support the forced treatment of the child. Children aren't equiped to make a life or death decision like this.

Huh? I didn't realize the Duggars were against medicine. In fact I would say it helped save their daughter Josie.

I have friends who don't believe in using any kind of medical help. It's part of their religion. While I respect it, I don't understand it.

What do the Duggar's have to do with it? They don't seem to be against modern medicine in any way. I've certainly never heard them say anything to that effect, and of course they have had extensive medical treatment for their preemie, Josie.

As far as this family goes, I hope the dad reconsiders. I absolutely believe God can heal people, but I certainly don't see any reason (Biblical or otherwise) to refuse medical treatment.

I'm another poster who is confused as to exactly how this story relates to the Duggars..

As for the father - as an adult, it's definitely his choice to make.. Let's not forget that chemotherapy - and the resulting side effects and complications - can be as much of a "death sentence" as the cancer itself..

Regardless of his choice, I wish him well..

It sounds as though the OP may have meant the family was having a lot of children similar to the Duggar family, but I do not agree that it is a fitting comment.

Also, nowhere in the article does it say the father will not have chemotherapy, just that right now he would like to try other methods. I have never been in the situation of having cancer, but from what I have seen chemo do to people, I can understand wanting that to be a last resort.

Thank-you golf-gal for bringing this story to my attention. It's so unfair that they should have to face cancer again. I pray that the father changes his mind.
