I've been following these boards for awhile now so I'm hoping to get some good advice.

My family is looking to relocate to the Tampa Bay area and are trying to figure out where to look, where to avoid, etc. Any advice/info is wonderful. We are currently living in Louisville, KY so we need to at least narrow it down some before we can afford to come down to look in person.

Thanks in advance !!!!!

Here's a link to a thread with a similar question from January..

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2384444

It's got some good information in it. My parents live in Dunedin, and it's a really cute town. It's right outside of Clearwater - my parents are about 10 minutes from the beach. It's maybe.. 20-25 minutes to Tampa? Depending on traffic, I guess.

Are you looking to buy a house down there, or are you looking for apartments/condos?

Thanks for the link to the past thread. :thumbsup2 I didn't even think to search the old posts.

Since we will be so unfamiliar with everything then we are going to look for a short term lease at first in order to get to know the area.

We live in the Palm Harbor/Dunedin/Safety Harbor/Oldsmar area - LOVE it! We're pretty much equidistant from both Tampa and Clearwater and convenient to most everything.

Years ago we lived in the Pass-a-grille/ Treasure Island area...we lived on Boca Ciega Isle...it was beautiful and only minutes away from the beach...unfortunately, things have developed wildly in this area and I'm sure it is quite different today...

This is the area we really like and decided on. Our apartment address is in Clearwater but across the street is Safety Harbor. It's such a pretty area.

I think Boca Ciega is where my uncle lived. I visited him most years from 1990-2003. He lived on Lillian - Do I have the right place?

We live in the Riverview area. It is south of Tampa. It keeps my husband from having to use I-4 to get to work. We really like the area and love that we can walk outside and not hear any noise of the city.

We live North of Tampa, in Land O Lakes which is in Pasco County School District...we love it. We lived in Tampa, Hillsborough County School District, when we first returned from overseas and my daughter attended a "good" Middle School and was very unhappy.

We live in Largo which is just south of Clearwater. Our dd13 attends Seminole Middle school and will be going to Largo High in August. The have a very good magnet program and the school is within walking distance.

I work very close to home but hubby has a 62 mile commute to Sarasota. He travels I-275 every day. I would avoid any commute that would require you to travel I-4. In my opinion it is much worse traffic wise than 275.

We live in a great neighborhood with some houses for sale. If you want further info on that just send me a pm.
