We just want one low key day where you can relax and feel like you are away from it all, by clean chlorinated water.....yet I would like to have great theming.

Please give me your recommendations.

I don't care if it is a water park, Disney resort, non Disney resort...etc...

Thanks

I know this might not be an appropriate suggestion, but for relaxing have you thought about spending the day at Discovery Cove? It is very peaceful there and because only so many people are allowed in each day it never feels crowded.

Problem is it is a very expensive option:(

Thanks Kazzie and yes I have considred Dis Cove but after watching the special about it on the travel channel yesterday, it is just not for me...but thanks so much for responding

I like Typhoon Lagoon for relaxing. My kids like the water slides, and wave pool. We get there at opening so that we can get a picnic bench and lounges under a cover cabana overlooking the wave pool. For me, this is a relaxing way to rest, soak up the sun, and do a lot of people watching.

I too love TL. The family raft ride at BB is much longer, and the tobaggan slides are unique, but that melted snow look just makes BB way too hot for me. I like the tropical feel of TL. Both DH and I enjoy floating around Castaway Creek in the tubes. The kids (older teens) do the slides and such. The wave pool is a lot of fun.

Typhoon Lagoon is definitely my favourite water park too, and the most relaxing.I get there early to nab a good spot and set myself up in a quiet spot for the day:)

We stayed once at Disney's Coronado Resort and thouroughly enjoyed their Mayan themed "Dig Site". Very relaxing and well themed.

OK.... I gotta ask. What was it about Discovery Cove that you felt it wasn't for you? It was the very first place I thought of when I read your question. We've been there twice (and didn't do the dolphin swim) and it was truly the most relaxing day of our vacation. It's big bucks, of course but I'm just curious what turned you off after seeing the special.

Typhoon Lagoon is fun but you MUST get there early if you're going to relax. We went in Feb for the first time and made the mistake of arriving about 11am. There was no place for us to sit, no lounge chairs, we were dragging our stuff around everywhere and people were packed in like sardines. It was in no way relaxing :~) -- but it would have been different if we'd gotten there early and gotten a spot.

The activities at DC are just not what I am looking for. We have both been snorkeling an scuba diving in the ocean so the reef they have does not appeal to us. I swam with the dolphins in the Bahamas, it was nice but not something I would just have to do again. I am not a bird watcher. Also I know this is terrible but after being in the waters of Puerto Rico, Cancun, Aruba and the Caribbean, the US waters just seem dirty to us.

I was just curious if there was something about Discovery Cove that I was unaware of that was a turnoff for you. Seeing as you've done all the things they offer I can see not wanting to spend $$$$$$ to go there and lay under a palm tree.

I've never swam in any of the waters you referred to so I can't make a comparison. I don't think DC is US waters though. Isn't it all man made?

Anyway, good luck and have fun!

Jenn
