Related to anyone famous?

"Friends" actor Matt Le Blanc is my second cousin, I've heard. We have great grandparents in common.

I never met him.

I'm related to Mackenzie Rossman, who played Ruthie on 7th Heaven. I think she's my grandma's sister's granddaughter or something odd like that.

Ack, this one looked so inelegant, I re-did it, but it's already been quoted.

Anyway, see Post #65 below ::yes::.

Your relationship looks something like this:

Great-grandparents

/......................\
maelstrom's Grandma........Grandma's sister (aka maelstrom's great-aunt)
l...............................l
maelstrom's parent...........Mackenzie Rossman's parent
l.............................................l
maelstrom.......................Mackenzie Rossman

If you had grandparents in common, you & Mackenzie would be 1st cousins. Since you have great grandparents in common, you two are 2nd cousins.

WOW that is impressive. there is NO way i could understand that...:lmao:

it is cool :cool1:

Anjelica Huston. My grandfather's middle name was Huston. Her father, director John Huston, was his second cousin.

My dad is David Cassidy....not THE David Cassidy...but a David Cassidy. And yes, in the 1970s we got phone calls from screaming teenagers who wanted to know if David Cassidy really lived at my house !

My husband's cousin was very famous in the late 80s - early 90s. She's still a celeb, but not as famous as she used to be.

Don't know why, but Joan Collins immediately came to mind. :confused3

My cousin played and sang in the country swing band "Asleep At The Wheel" when they won a Grammy in the 70's. They used to always open up for Willie Nelson.

Ummm not really, I guess. My great-uncle was a WWII pilot that is likely familiar to war buffs. My DH's cousin wrote a best-selling novel. She is currently working on the follow up and the screen play.

I have some infamous connections that resulted in TV movie of the week type stuff.

I went to HS with a soap actor, a few NFL players and a director. My mom was friends with several members of a (no longer) popular rock band. I went to HS with the most famous member of that band's son.

I have more than one professional athlete that I'd call a friend and if you consider local radio (and some minor TV) personalities to be celebrities or famous, I know about 100 of them from markets all over the country and a few syndicated ones.

DH is related to John Hancock (signer of the Declaration of Independence). He also has a relative that is buried standing up.

Me - nada.

Chris Kirkpatrick from N Sync is my 2nd cousin (our Grandmothers are sisters I think). Never met him of course, but saw him in the hometown parade.

Anjelica Huston. My grandfather's middle name was Huston. Her father, director John Huston, was his second cousin.

Anjelica Huston is your 3rd-cousin, once-removed.

This is how the relationship would look:
Common Ancestors
(gypsydoodlebug's great great great grandparents)
/........\
Siblings
(gypsydoodlebug's great great grandparents)
(Anjelica Huston's great grandparents)
/...............................................\
gypsydoodlebug's great grandparent......1st cousins.....John Huston parent
/.....................................................\
gypsydoodlebug's grandfather..........2nd cousins..........John Huston
/.............................................................\
gypsydoodlebug's parent....................3rd cousins...............Anjelica Huston
/....................................................................\
............gypsydoodlebug...................................4th cousins.......................Anjelica Huston descendant

Once-removed just means you're removed from the relationship by a generation. There's also a thing called ascendancy/descendancy that goes along with the relationship being one generation up or down a generation but I don't really get that.

Steven Bauer was Bill Sykes to my Nancy in Oliver in our high school play in Miami in 1974. Unfortunately, he had to drop out because of his football schedule. I hear he has a restaurant in Miami now. He was always a nice guy too.

I just found out this summer that our cousin's brother in law is Clark Howard.

Cool! Thanks! She's my mom's age, but we lost that side of the family long ago.

Not related to anyone that I know of but my cousin (my mom's cousin actually) has taken pictures of TONS of celebrities. His myspace and facebook pages are unreal! Also, a good friend's fiance is a trainer for the Vikings. Needless to say she wasn't happy with who was in the Super Bowl. :goodvibes

This totally interests me! I'd love to learn more about putting together a family tree and the research that goes into it.

I am related to Elvis (through marriage), General Custer, and my mother just found out that we are direct decendants of Geoffrey Chaucer...
