I asked this over on the US CB too but thought you guys might have a better perspective. we are traveling to london in april. dh is 6 foot 2. doesnt think he can handle coach so i am looking into premium economy seats. is it worth the extra $ in matter of legroom and other things? which airline do you think has wider seats and more legroom in this class? thanks

Personally, I think "BA" has the better leg room, the extra $$ is worth it at his height, its nothing special, maybe a few inches but 6foot 2 then id go for it. Although "Virgin Airlines" are very spacious :bounce:

To be honest I dont think there is much between BA and Virgin on the premium class seats - I would say just see which one is cheaper for when you want to go. I agree though that with someone that tall normal seating is too cramped - unless you reserve exit seats!

does he have really long legs? My husband is 6' 7" tall and has managed in economy seats (the person in front of him can't put their seat back, but that's their problem)....
of course we have traveled business class in recent years, but inside the US we fly economy and back when we used to fly economy across the atlantic and pacific, he managed just fine...

but if it's only a small amount of difference to the premium seats, i would pay it for that extra bit of comfort....

if you want to know the difference between BA and Virgin in terms of seating space and pitch, etc -- go to www.seatguru.com and look up the various aircraft of each company -- it will tell you the amount of room between the seats etc.

My DH is 6 ft 2 and we travel economy on VA or BA. He always manages fine!

We did once get miraculously upgraded to PE but I would not pay extra for it. Different people feel differently about this issue, but I would prefer to save the extra money for a nicer hotel in Orlando, or for spends. My view is, the flight is such a short part of your holiday it's not worth spending the extra on but YMMV.

We have never travelled with BA but Virgin are OK for tallies - DH is 6'4", DS (14) 6'4" - and still growing and me 6' managed in economy although because I have a problem with my legs following shingles on them and can't bear anything touching them we have travelled PE the last couple of times - hope this helps

we have to pay extra too, dbf is 6ft 3 and i am 6ft, we really like ba for the the upgrade

In Virgin UC or BA Club World, the seat/bed is longer in Virgin than BA. We like Virgin beacuse of this as I am 6ft 1in and the wife is 5ft 9in
Much more comfortable

Snap! Must say that we go PE as DH is 6ft 4in tall, he finds economy too tight for a long journey, and with my medical problem often need the extra space to stretch out and move around more easily in.

If you are considering upgrading from coach then I would seriously recommend Virgin Atlantic PE over the BA world traveller plus.

We always travel at least PE as we couldn't face being crammed in economy. I'm not sure where you are flying from but with Premium Economy you get a 38" seat pitch, dedicated in-flight staff, separate cabin (depending on route), dedicated check-in, priority boarding and disembarking plus pre-flight champagne.

Compare this with World Traveller Plus which is simply an extension of the economy cabin with the same in-flight staff and noisy atmosphere. I haven't travelled BA for a while now, but we were also last off of the plane in WTP!

At a like-for-like price, there is in comparison between the two services in my opinion.
