Reintroduction!!

Jess, are you trying to get Joe riled up?
BTW , my fellow country music fan, I have had the pleasure of seeing Gretchen Wilson TWICE - have you ever seen her lead guitarist????
My fav concert though would have been Trace Adkins - but I was sick the day of the show and had to give my tix away:sad1:

Hey there! I saw Gretchen do a free mini concert in Union Square here in the city, but I've never seen Trace. I would love to see a Trace concert. My best country concert ever was probably years ago when we went to see Garth Brooks out on Long Island. That was a great show.

Only artist I saw this year was Chesney, and Sugarland and Pat Green opened for him. I think that was the only one I saw this year. It was a fun, outdoor concert in Central Jersey. We had a great time.

What's Gretchen's lead guitarist look like? What about him?

officially riled.

:headache:

Haha. Well, you certainly do have a way about you, don't you?

 Aw. I'm just kidding. I have no ways. I lost them in Egypt.:sad1: I am going to spend a great deal of the year trying to get them back....

I'm sure it won't take you too long. Are you looking forward to your trip?

I am and I'm not. I'm not looking forward to the flight, but I'm looking forward to all the other parts (Jellyrolls, dibs...:teeth:). We've been having a hard time getting settled in here, and to just up and leave....oh and the day after I get back we all are leaving for a long weekend to Italy. I am tired already.

OMG Bomb!!! You can tell Rebecca what to expect next summer! :yay:

Yes, 10 days next summer, I am sooooo envious!

OK I will try to take notes (in my Coach planner...thanks Rick!;) ) but I think I may be healing not only from my flight but from my trip. I've heard there are some good drinks at WDW.:rolleyes1

Sorry Joe...here

HOLYCRAP! I did not know this was Shel Silverstein!!!!!!!

THE UNICORN
A long time ago when the earth was green,
There were more kinds of animals than you'd ever seen.
They'd run around free when the ark was bring born,
But the loveliest of them all was the Unicorn.

CHORUS:
There was green alligators and long-necked geese,
Some humpty-backed camels and some chimpanzees,
Some cats and rats and elephants,
But sure as you're born
The loveliest of them all was the Unicorn.

Now God seen some sinning and it gave him pain.
And he says, "Stand back, I'm gonna make it rain."
He says, "Hey Brother Noah, I'll tell you what to do,
Build me a floating zoo."

CHORUS:
And take some of them green alligators and long-necked geese,
Some humpty-backed camels and some chimpanzees,
Some cats and rats and elephants,
But sure as you're born,
Don't you forget my Unicorn.

Old Noah was there to answer the call.
He finished up making the ark just as the rain started falling.
He marched in the animals, two by two
And he called out as they went through.

CHORUS:
Hey Lord, I got your green alligators and long-necked geese,
Some humpty-backed camels and some chimpanzees,
Some cats and rats and elephants,
But Lord, I'm so forlorn,
I just can't see no Unicorns.

Then, Noah looked out through the driving rain,
Them Unicorns were hiding, playing silly games,
Kicking and splashing while the rain was pouring.
Oh, them silly Unicorns.

CHORUS:
There were green alligators and long-necked geese,
Some humpty-backed camels and some chimpanzees,
Noah cried, :Close the door cause the rain is pouring,
And we just can't wait for no Unicorns

The ark started moving, it drifted with the tides.
Them Unicorns looked up from their rocks and they cried,
And the waters came down and sort of floated them away.
And, that's why you've never seen a Unicorn to this very day.

CHORUS:
You'll see green alligators and long-necked geese,
Some humpty-backed camels and some chimpanzees,
Some cats and rats and elephants,
But sure as you're born, you'll never gonna see no Unicorn.

I may have to check other sites to see if this is right...I know they don't do all the verses at Jellyrolls (or Raglan Road ;) )

I had to look for that song at Itunes...you have to buy the whole album to get it. Darn...anyone want all the other songs????

Jess, it is his poem. I taught him last year to some of my students when we did poetry in April. Most kids, no matter how old love Shel Silverstein. Did you know, just as a bit of trivia, that he also wrote the song "A Boy Named Sue" by Johnny Cash.

there's some website (I'll find it) where you register to win tickets to a private concert by Garth, coming up next month. I'll find it for you. Apparently, he's doing some benefit concert and their giving away two tickets, airfare, etc. etc. I put in once for it, but I have to find the website again.

I saw the chesney concert at PNC Bank Arts Center. It's always a great place to go to a concert! We have photos from that fun day, with me with my John Deere shirt on that says "COUNTRY BOY". I know. I'm a country geek (from Northern New Jersey no less!)

The unicorn song is one of my daughter's favorites, along with "Barbie Girl". Hope she doesn't figure out what those lyrics mean.

Johnny Cash, another fav - I grew up listening to Johnny Cash and Patsy Cline, and even got to perform some Patsy Cline when I was touring with a group in college....anyhoo...I digress....didn't get to meet him, Joe, but in the fourth row, where I was at, I could smell the sweat!
I was also lucky enough to see Loretta Lynn with Wynona - what a lovely lady Ms. Lynn is - she was always one of my Dad's favs, and shortly before he passed, I went to the concert for him, holding my phone up the whole time she sang - we lost him shortly after that, but he spoke many times of how happy he was to "hear" her in concert.
