Hi there,
We are thinking about having our rehersal dinner (actually luncheon) on Shipwreck Beach, has anyone done a beach rehersal? What did you do for food? Drinks? Decor?
All DF wants to do is be able to be bearfoot:rotfl2: !
Any advice would be great, Thanks :)

That sounds like fun - but make sure you are planning your event during a season with a low expected rainfall. I had to use my backup locations for my DP and my pre-reception locations because of the weather. (My event was in June of 2008)

We planned a dinner/BBQ on Shipwreck Beach but were moved inside due to the chance of rain. Disney takes it to within an hour of the start time before they move an event like this inside. As much as I wish we had been able to have it outside, it was also VERY hot and people enjoyed the air conditioner as it rained outside. And yes, we planned it for August at about 4pm, but the forecast until that morning had been rather cool (mid 80s).

Not for our wedding, but we planned an event at Shipwreck Beach for a fabulous private party that was hosted for Disney Wedding Couples. We did end up being inside because the weather was so dang hot (and then it rained) but it was not challenging to plan and is an awesome location!

Thank you for the info:thumbsup2 ! What was the inside location by the way? We are doing a Feb wedding so hopefully no super high humity or rain (I'll keep my fingers crossed). What did you have for food, can they do anything on the beach that they can do indoors?

We had Ariels as our back up location

I don't think we had any food restrictions due to location. For our wedding in 2006 we did have a few restrictions for our cake being outside.

Our backup location for Shipwreck Beach was one of the convention center rooms. Cape Cod B/C or C/D (can't remember).

We had our rehearsal dinner on Shipwreck Beach. It was amazing- great view and something different for our guests. We did the Chip & Dale BBQ menu. Very casual, but yummy food. We also had beer and wine. We asked that the dessert be removed (and reduced the cost as well) since we were going to the Illuminations Dessert Party afterwards. We added some Hawaiian linens to the table and added simple centerpieces. Our guests absolutely loved it. We had one of the conference rooms booked as a back up. Luckily, it only drizzled towards the end of the party, so we were ok. However, our Illuminations party was moved inside at Norway. Looking on the bright side, it was sunny and gorgeous for our wedding day, so I'll take drizzle the night before!!

I would highly recommend doing your dessert party at Shipwreck Beach. You can make it as elaborate or as casual as you want. Enjoy and good luck!

We are having our Rehearsal dinner on Shipwreck Beach, and I love the idea of having it on the actual beach! I beleive we are having Parm crusted chicken as a main dish and everything is Italian based since my future Mother-in-law is Italian. Yummy! She is also having beer and wine. Our dinner is of an evening so it will be a little cool since it's the first weekend of February, but we don't mind...anything is better than the weather in Indiana and Boston! hahaha

We've been told by almost everyone that there is low chance of rain since it is in Feb. but it will probably be chilly enough for jackets. I guess if we get too cold we could always warm our hands on the Tiki Tourches we're having. :lmao:
