Did you do anything to create/ have a rehearsal dinner keepsake? If so, what? Just curious.

We had the obligatory Jordan Almonds :rotfl:

We purchased some personalized ribbon that was black with silver lettering. On one side of the ribbon it said our names and on the other it had the wedding date. We found the traditional (although it's really only 5 years old) Jordan Almond poem, printed it out on cardstock, cut it out with serated edged scissors, and aged the edges of it with watercolor pencils. This was the came technique we used for our programs, so there was a continuity. Took the 5 Jordan Almonds that the poem calls for and put them in two tulle rounds- one black, one white. The combination of the two colors looked really striking. Put a hole punch through the top corner of the poem, tied it to the sack with the almonds and viola! They looked great on the black table cloths at California Grill.

Remember, you will be distributing your gifts at the rehearsal.

My Event Manager gave my Welcome Party a Halloween theme since that is the day that Rick & I first met, and also the day that Rick proposed to me. I kept the theme a secret from everyone, including my husband. I thought it would be more fun if folks were surprised.

Since there was a Halloween theme to my event, my Event Manager decided to have an offering of nostalgic candy and Trick ‘Or Treat bags available for my guests as a take-away item. I thought that was a very fun and unique touch. Here is a photo of how the candy was displayed at my event: click here.

As to a more personal keepsake for my husband and myself, my Event Manager planned for a special decoration – a pumpkin was to be carved in our images. I thought that was a real hoot. Well, not to be outdone by the creative genius of my Event Manager, I decided on my own personal keepsake – a set of dolls that were created in our images. (Believe me, it was hard topping my Event Manager.)

I kept the carved pumpkin a secret from everyone, including my husband; and I kept the dolls a secret from everyone, except for my husband. At the event, my husband (and our guests) was surprised when he saw the pumpkin, and our guests were surprised when they saw the dolls.

Here is a photo of how our pumpkin turned out: click herehttp://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/janettwokay/detail?.dir=305f&.dnm=9c0e.jpg&.src=ph. I wasn’t able to keep the pumpkin (I have no idea how to preserve a pumpkin). But I was able to keep my dolls (they’re presently sitting in a box on my bedroom floor).

As to the nostalgic candy, I never did get the opportunity to make a bag for myself, but the rest of my guests did. The children especially had fun filling their little Trick ‘Or Treat bags with all sorts of goodies.
