Rehabs/closures

Having never been, I don't know for sure what all we're missing out on with Rivers of Adventure. But now I'm a little worried; I knew that was closing, but it seemed like a petting zoo, no rides really? And I'm also a little concerned that Jungle Cruise will be closed....?

DLR has too many attractions and no real off season so they can't really avoid spreading out their closures throughout the year. It's rare to see a minor refurb between Memorial Day and Labor Day, but sometimes with the major ones it's unavoidable. When BTMRR had it's last major refurb it was planned for Jan-Oct and ended up being 14 months, so it was down for a whole summer. Last year the planned Peter Pan refurb was supposed to open for the start of the 60th but ran more than a month over. The Matterhorn also opened later, though it was still up for a media preview the day before the 60th and only went over by about 10 days, I think. It's best not to focus on what might be down because whatever they're saying now is likely to change up until a week before your trip.

** Deep breath. **

Okay! I will try not to stress and be patient. As PPs have said, this is very different from WDW (my frame of reference), so I will start operating from the mindset that the rehab schedule is basically a toss-up with DLR. It's not like WDW never goes over their timeframes, but they seem to generally not do the big rehabs during popular seasons (with summer being one of them), and they also announce them decently-far in advance. Thanks!

I thought I read somewhere on one of the blogs that Soaring Over the World was debuting in June sometime and that it was opening right after it debuted in Shanghai Disneyland? I'm sorry, I can't find the link where I read that right now so hopefully this isn't incorrect information.
I read that too.... Can't remember where. It said Shanghi DL opens 6/16 and Soarin over the world will open 6/17 in CA. I thought it was Mice Chat but can't find it. That makes sense if those dates are accurate. We go 6/5-10. I'm hoping for the current weekend schedule at a miniunum.... But I won't be surprised at all if it closes all together for a few weeks before 6/17. I hope my gut is wrong... This would be my kids' first time to ride it. It was down on our last trip too. But worse than that was the tarped castle with like three weeks notice!

Rivers of Adventure? I like how that sounds.......

Disneyland's current schedule only goes through the beginning of March - that is why they aren't listing the closures for Soarin' officially beyond that date, other than the indefinite announcement. They are updating the dock at Jungle Cruise for, I believe, accessibility purposes, which will take probably several months. However, they are running "Skipper School" there now, which is a lot of fun. They have the skippers there and they hand out jokes to the crowd, who deliver them as the skippers describe the ride. My kids had an absolute blast doing it. You can also visit the trains and conductors at the New Orleans Square and Main Street stations, and they will chat with you about the trains. One of the conductors told me that they are thinking about bringing out more stuff to look at, but he didn't know what it would be or when it would be there. Again, really cool and something different. We were joking that we were seeing the famous backside of the train station.

I was there this weekend there are Cast Members out front of Jungle Cruise doing interactive/comedy stuff with guests. There is a sign out front that says "Next cruise in 4-ish months".

Ooh, 4-ish monts! I hope that's closer to 3 1/2 months, lol, when we com for first visit for a week, one of DD25's fave ride in MK,/WDW and she's excited to ride on DL. With train Dow and possibly Soarin, along with other things, we're pretty disappointed for a first visit and no idea for the next. Excited to see the 60th celebration, but sad at so many things being down, especially big favorites. DD25 also has Soarin a huge fave and would still be happy with the old movie, maybe it'll at least be open on the weekends I guess, if we get lucky.
