We are traveling to DL for the first time in July. I see that Grizzly Run and Soarin' are under refurbishment until an unspecified opening date. I've been to WDW dozens of times, and WDW rarely closes major attractions over the summer. Is DL the same? Just want to prepare ourselves if we'll be missing out on two major attractions during our trip.

Thanks!

One of the things that is very different about DL and WDW is that WDW announces closures months in advance. DL doesn't. We're thrilled to get a 2-month notice. Our re-opening dates also seem a bit more open to interpretation than at WDW.

GRR usually is open (and busy) all summer long. Feb is typical closure/maintenance time. It hasn't been down in the last several summers that I have gone. I don't believe I've heard/seen anything about a long refurb for it this summer. Yes, it's listed that it will close on 2/15, with reopening date unknown... but that's the same as every single year. It usually is open by Spring Break unless there's something "more" they are planning (and I haven't heard anything about that).

Soarin' has been open on the weekends, and closed most of the week, for a few weeks, I believe.

I bel I read somewhere that Soarin will be back running full time before summer

We too are WDW vets and will be heading to DLR for our second trip in June and I have to say that I agree with what lalasmama said. What I found out while planning our first trip is that planning for a DLR trip is so much different then planning a trip to WDW. Where everything is 180 days out or so to plan your meals and such, it is more like 60 days is the start of when you can really start planning your trip for DLR (i.e. make dining reservations, the park hours are up, you will have a better idea about any closures/refurbs that are scheduled). The only thing we have set in stone so far is our resort reservations (we are staying at VGC and since we are DVC members we booked our room right at the 7 month mark because it is really hard to get into there if we waited), we do have a tentative plan placed but of course once our date rolls around to where we can start making dining reservations and park hours are posted, I know some things will change.

As for Soarin and Grizzly Run, I am crossing my fingers that they both will be opened by the time we arrive in early June. Just like everyone else, we are already dealing with the closures of the DL Train and everything around Rivers of America that I really hope these other 2 attractions won't be closed too.

Where do you see that Soarin is down for a long period of time - right now it shows that it's up as of March 2nd without any future closing dates:

On this site's DLR refurb page, it's end refurb date just says "unknown." It doesn't necessarily say anything about a long closure, but I think that's people's fear when they see "unknown" and aren't used to DLR planning.

I thought I read somewhere on one of the blogs that Soaring Over the World was debuting in June sometime and that it was opening right after it debuted in Shanghai Disneyland? I'm sorry, I can't find the link where I read that right now so hopefully this isn't incorrect information.

According to this Touring Plans The Jungle Cruise is closed for a whole year. Please tell me this is not true!

I was there this weekend there are Cast Members out front of Jungle Cruise doing interactive/comedy stuff with guests. There is a sign out front that says "Next cruise in 4-ish months".

The Disney Blog showed them taking out an elephant by helicopter to clean it. I imagine that it's going to take some time to go through the entire attraction to spruce it up.

I would think we should rely on what the Disney website is saying though - of course it could go down at anytime but right now as of March 2nd it shows as open for business.

It's not just a spruce up ... it's being diverted a bit to make way for Star Wars Land as well.

Where did you see that? All I've seen is that boat loading and unloading is being modernized (and apparently Elephants are getting a cleaning)

Star Wars land is not going anywhere near the Jungle Cruise according to maps being shown to date - if it is then it's going to interfere with a lot of other stuff between the ROA and where the cruise is situated.

My guess is that the Jungle Cruise rehab has something to do with the fact that the water is shared with ROA and the fact that it's about to be drained for a year or longer necessitates some maintenance or changes at JC now.
