We're looking at coming next August (either Aug 14th or last week before labor day) and am wondering what night time shows would be playing. Trying to figure out how many days to visit as we want to ensure we see everything as we love shows. Based on Disney World, these are worth seeing.

I've heard of World Of Colour, Paint the Night, Fantasmic and Electrical Parade (saw these at WDW but would be more than happy to see them again). Would these be playing next summer? Anything else ?

World of Color runs nightly.

In the off season the other shows just run on the weekend, so you'll want at least one weekend night in your schedule. I think they said Fantasmic will be running again next summer, so hopefully by August.

If you can have more than one weekend night, it's helpful since fireworks get cancelled fairly often because of wind. However, I think the current fireworks show (no idea if it will change by next summer) is less than 5 minutes long, so maybe not enough to schedule around.

Thanks. I don't think the 3rd and last week of August off season would be off season, right?

We would most likely be at the parks during the weekday (thinking Tues - Fri), but exact dates not yet confirmed as it depends on our flight.

Good note about the fireworks.

SO is it just World of Color and possibly Fantasmic? Or any other shows?

I'm not exactly sure when the off season starts. Maybe not until Labor Day, so maybe you'll be ok in August?

Nobody has said yet which/if a night parade will be showing. I'm guessing Main Street Electrical Parade, but there hasn't been a specific announcement.

We're going in November and still don't know what's showing!

for our october trip we didnt get the schedule until like 40 days out so hopefully soon they will have the november scedules out. its ridiculous, but on the plus side once its out its not likely to change.

I wish Disneyland would release dates sooner.
Our ideal week is the last week in August but my DD and I absolutely love Haunted Mansion and so that's why we're looking at backing it up by 2 weeks (since it's 95% chance it'll be shut down last week). Having said that, mid August isn't as ideal a time since (1) it means splitting up our kids summer camp, which is a bit awkward and not as price efficient, (2) we would miss DH's nephew's birthday which hopefully won't cause family political issues IYKWIM. But I know from this summer, they didn't release the Halloween dates until quite soon to the date. Knowing this in advance would help in planning since we need to book early for hotel, flight, etc.

Have an amazing time. November will come before you know it.

After watching what's happening on the WDW side of things lately, I can definitely see the plus in that. But I want to make some dining reservations now that the window has opened and it's very hard to do without knowing the entertainment schedule.

I think the one piece of the equation that is pretty predictable is probably the closing of HM to install the overlay. When you have flights involved it can be tricky to remain flexible though until the other pieces fall into place. I purposely fly Southwest so that we can at least change if we need to. But with my daughter in high school, it's the school and extracurricular schedule we have to remain flexible about. It's just always something!

Yes true...many factors such as school, and extracurricular, etc.
That's great you can book a flight that can be cancelled without penalty. We're Canadian and so unless we drive to Buffalo, we wouldn't fly Southwest. But if they let you cancel, that may be one reason to booking out of Buffalo (Many say it's cheaper but when I've looked, the price is never worth the extra 2.5hr drive).

Southwest doesn't refund the lowest fares, but they do allow changes with no fee.
