Regular admission ticket plus MVMVP's ticket?

I understand that there might be a special admission fee for the MVMCP, if we don't plan to go to the park before 4p.m. that day, do I still need a regular admission ticket in order to get into the park? In other word, if we stay for 7 nights in WDW, can I just buy 6 day passes and then buy the MVMCP for the one day we go into MK at 4p.m.?
I hope my question is not too confusing.

With you MVMCP ticket, you can enter the park at 4 PM for the party that starts at 7 PM. But it is not "might" like you posted - it is definite. You have to have a separate ticket to go to the party.

If you want to go to the MK on that day earlier in the day (before 4 PM), you will need regular park admission.

If you don't plan on going until 4 or later, you only need a party ticket.

You do realize that there is only a few dollars difference between a 6 and 7 day ticket, right?

Actually, you could purchase the 7-day ticket (not a big jump in price) and go to another park before 4 pm. Then with your MVMCP ticket, you could enter MK at 4 pm. This would not be considered park-hopping.
