Hi! I was wondering if anyone can help me with the registry...My DF and I have already purchased a house, along with everything that we need inside so we don't need the typical wedding registry items (like kitchen or any household items that people usually register for in a wedding). Of course, store or Disney gift cards are great, but then you have to spend it at the particular store or at Disney (and for as much as we love Disney, we don't need everything to be Disney). So, I was wondering if anyone knows or has heard of any other options out there?? Is there some way that people can just contribute a certain amount of cash (as they would be anyhow in purchasing a gift) for a VISA gift card (that can be spent anywhere) OR contribute cash into a particular registry so that it could simply be cash for us to spend, since this would probably make the most sense for our situation. Does this make sense to anyone??? I appreciate any help that anyone can offer!! Thanks!!! :goodvibes

I know there are such registries out there, I just don't know any by name. Just be warned: from talking with people, reading articles, journals, etc., quite a few people find a money registry quite tacky. And when doing this, you also have to be very careful about how you ask for the monetary gift, so your guests don't feel pressured/awkward/etc. about giving you this. Don't, for example, print on your invitations: Monetary gifts preferred. Instead, you have to spread your idea of a perfect gift via mouth. Maybe ask your mom, brother, any other family member to let their friends know that you would just prefer cash. But also make sure you give them a reason for the cash gift as well. Maybe you are saving up for an amazing vacation? New furniture? Be sure to let your guests know what you would be spending their money on.

But also know, some people just are not comfortable giving money, so you may want to put together at least a small registry for those who feel this way. I hope that helps some, even though I did not really answer your question about specific registries! :rotfl:

If you don't need anything, then why have a registry? Maybe you could ask your guests to make a donation to your favorite charity in lieu of gifts or do the whole 'please no presents as your presence is enough.'
