Registry question re: prepaying for MYW package

If we prepay for our honeymoon, can we retroactively apply money that we receive from our disney honeymoon registry? Or will we only be able to use our gift money as extra money?

It's my understanding that any "gifts" that people purchase for you from your Honeymoon registry is actually just distributed to your bank account. So, for instance, even if your guests buy you money toward dinner at a specific restaurant, the amount is given to you as a deposit in your bank account so you can actually spend it however you wish.
