I've been asked to start a web site for our Girl Scout Unit. I've done a few in the past but only on "free" sites. Yahoo, tripod, our cable company space......

I'm looking for recommendations for who to register with and the like.

It's fairly important to the person in charge that we don't have pop ups and the server isn't "down" a lot.

Any advice??

I'll check...I forgot to mention she's willing to pay a fee...

Depending on who you have service with, Sympatico, AOL etc. sometimes they give you free web space that you can use, ad free. You just have to have your own FTP or an old version of Netscape allows you to upload. Check with your internet provider as to what you are given.

I keep asumming you guys know stuff you don't  I think I posted this WAY too early. THe GS manager wants an easy site name (like ourtowngs.org) so I am assuming I will have to pay to register that name and then use the sevrver wherever I may register. Is that the case? I do have free space on my cable service, but the site name would involve a lot more characters and we want to make this easy so our leaders will be more willing to use it.

There I think that's everything I need out of a site.

www.worldzone.net Check the $12 annual plan. For your own name, the 4.95 month Bronze may be necessary. Try their service forum there, they are VERY helpful.

Thanks Dan and Jeff. I will check it out. I knew I'd get good advice here!!!
