I know this is a dumb question, but before it's too late (hopefully it isn't), what's the easiest way to register to vote? After the 2000 election, I haven't bothered registering. I decided that I want to vote in this election. Can I just go to my local town hall (or any town hall) and register? What about the post office?

I think it depends on the state you live in. I would google your county or state board of elections and find out.

I think the deadline is maybe Oct 4, so it's not too late, but act fast. You should have a supervisor of elections office in your city or county. Also, I believe you can do this at the drivers bureau too.

Also, thank you for voting!!

I have always just gone to the Post office when I need to register.

Do you need to go to your home town post office?

As stated, it will vary depending upon where you live. In my city, you can register at the Supervisor of Elections Office, or at the DMV. I don't know if you can register at the main post office or at any libraries. I've been registered at my current address for over 25 years, so haven't needed to register lately. You can also contact your League of Women Voters, or your local party campaign office, and they may have someone who can register you there.

Voting comes with certain responsibilities, some of which are making sure you not only decide who to vote for, but you find out how to register, where to vote, and how to vote. (how to read the ballot completely, and ask for help if you don't understand how to physically use the voting machine)

But, unless you have requested an absentee ballot because you will not be in town, you vote where you currently live, which may or may not be what you consider your "home town."

I may be misunderstanding your post, but did you vote in the 2000 election? If you did and you haven't moved since then, you should be registered already. You don't have to reregister for each election.

Maybe, maybe not. It depends on whether they have voted in the 8 years since 2000. Some state drop voters that did not vote in a certain period of time.

In the state of Maryland, you can print out the application online and then just mail it in to register.

Thanks for voting!

I dont understand why ANYONE doesn't vote. This political season, like most, has my head spinning. But I always vote!
