Can you give me some guidance as to travekl time from central london to Kent. I am planning on playing some golf in Kent, around Deal and Sandwich, and don't know if it can be done day trip, or if an overnight stay is necessary. It is only 75 miles or so, but your advise would be appreciated. Either train or car hire would be used.

It's a long time since I lived near Kent, but I'll have a go at answering your question, and hope somoen more knowlegeable will come along with a more accurate answer.

The train journey should take no more than an hour and a half, I would think. Driving from central London would be far more stressful IMHO and probably take longer. I don't think an overnight stay would be necessary unless you have a very early start / late finish.
:)

direct train from charing cross takes 1 hour 50 minutes to Deal, and 1 hour 56 minutes to sandwich (they're on the same line) the train is a south eastern heading for ramsgate and the fare is £29.80 return £22 cheap day single, to either one.
