Hi everyone, :goodvibes
Were thinking of getting one of the princess dresses that they sell at DL and WDW. Are they pretty good quality since they're kind of expensive ( like everything else at Disney ;) ). But I do think my dd would adore one and wear it often.

Can they be washed in the washing machine on delicate or do they have to be dry cleaned? Just wanted to make sure I can try and keep it nice. Thanks in advance.

We end up getting DD one every year. The quality is great, yes they are expensive. I have washed the Minnie one, but not Cinderella or any others. My DD wears them all the time, we just try to keep her from eating in them to keep them clean.

We leave in 2 days and she still has to decide which one she will take...

Thank you, both. I figure she'll only be little once and we'll just have to show her how to take good care of it.

I'm thinking of getting DD one too. I know they are overpriced so its good to hear they are good quality. Last trip DD wore her Cinderella costume (from the Disney Store) to CRT. This trip she wanted to wear her Mulan costume to Storybook but its pretty beat up and ratty looking (its from Halloween'03) so I thought maybe I'd treat her to a new one when we get there.

We literally have every dress they sell in WDW- So I can tell you that the Minnie Dress is cotton so it washes very well. The other Princess dresses are washable too if you are careful. I usually have to iron the bodice after washing and I always hang dry.

One CAVEAT: the dresses that have crinolin and can be very scratchy on bare skin. Becareful of that- my daughter has refused to wear some of them for that reason. The crinolin also starts to tear after a few wearings or if it gets stepped on. I have had to make periodic repairs to the few that get worn alot.

I did have to return a Dress from WDW at a DS when it had poor stitching and came apart on a seam. Just be sure to save every receipt from your trip- I have had to reurn a couple of things over the years that didn't work anymore or were defective.

Thank you all for your replies. Glad to know i wouldn't have to take the dress to the cleaners.

Yes...my daughter complains of the scratchiness in her dresses also! I guess I will have to buy her a slip to wear underneath!

Hello, can you tell us how expensive they might be at WDW? I really want to get dd a cinderella size 6.

But it will take you to the cleaners! :rotfl2:

Try ebay. We got the yellow belle dress on ebay much cheaper than I would have gotten it from Disney. We also made a Belle red christmas dress and cape.

They have great ones at Wal-Mart everyday for $19.97, and I think I saw where they "rolled back" the price to $17.77 recently. They are very pretty and have a nice assortment. In the toy dept.

I'm planning on hitting the DS as it approaches Halloween. Usually the DS and Disney Catalog start discounting them pretty heavily the closer it gets to 10/31.

Also, Party City puts out last years costumes at the end of August/early Sept on clearance. We got an adorable Cinderella one there last year.

This year I'll be looking for Belle, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, Jasmine, etc. Want to get her 2 new ones for our trip.
