Question. We are a party of three who will be booking for SEPT 2010. In regards to dining,a fourth family member is looking to come with us on the trip, but will not be able to confirm until 30 days before the date because of school and work.

My question. Can I make the reserves for 4 people instead of three people even though the fourth person isn't confirmed with our party yet?

Thanks pirate:

Yes, in fact you probably should make them for 4 people. It is probably easier to get seated if you show up one person down than if you show up with an extra person.

The tables for 3 and 4 are the same size. You'll be fine either way. :)

Not necessarily. Restaurants do have '3 tops.' First, there are circular tables that can seat 2 or 3, but not 4. The configuration at other restaurants may require a 4 top to be placed against a wall or column, resulting in a 3 top.

Do not assume that 3 and 4 are the same. Book for 4 and show with 3.

Not at every restaurant - some restaurants have tables for 3.

Thanks.

My main concern is that when I make the Reservations with dining, they will ask me all the names and if they don't show four guests as staying with them (we are booking a package with hotel and dining), they will not accept the name of that fourth person, thus only allowing us to book three people.

Sorry if that was confusing.

When you make your ADR's they do not ask for the names - just your Reservation number and how many in your party for that meal. I have a sister that lives in Orlando that we go to dinner with when we are there -so some of our ADRs are for 2 and some for 4 (or 5 or 6 if the kids come too).

It does not matter who you put on your restaurant reservation. They do not have to be staying with you or registered on your resort package.

Today I made reservations for 10. Only six of us are staying on dis property and are on the reservation list. The other four live in florida and will be visiting us during the week. However, one may not be able to make it. I asked what would happen if one person could not make it. The dining CM said I could call back to edit the reservation or just let them know a person could not make it when we go to the rest. For the number of people that go to disney I don't think it would too rare that a dining party would be missing a person because of illness or other reason.

we've booked dinners for three in the past and had a last minute fourth and have never had an issue with this. even at some of the harder to get into restaurants like Le Cellier.

in all the meals I'v eaten at WDW (which is a lot) we've never been seated at a "three top" table. always it's been a table for four.
