We found several hotels around the $60 -$70 range. Have anyone of you stayed at one of the "cheapies". What did you think, is it worth the savings?

Can't really say without knowing what the hotel is. We've stayed at Anaheim Plaza for $59, and it wasn't bad. It's within walking distance.

Try going to GTAHotels and easyclicktravel and finding their rate for the Radisson Maingate. Lately, it's been lower than that posted on radisson.com, and Radisson offers a 25% "price guarantee" discount off any lower rate you can find. That generally puts the Radisson between $40 and $50, and would be good value for a hotel within walking distance of Disney.

We've stayed at both the Anaheim Plaza and the Radisson Maingate. We will never stay at the Radisson again. Very worn down looking and the elevator wasn't working the night we stayed there. Anaheim Plaza is nice for the amount you pay - clean and adequate and closer to DL than the Radisson.

We prefer the Camelot Inn and Tropicana. Only stayed at the above 2 properties when we couldn't get rooms at Camelot/Tropicana.

Just got back from the Tropicana and it is clean and close. Nothing else positive to say about it.

We have stayed at both the Carousel Inn and the Tropicana. My vote would be for the Carousel, it was very clean, the staff very helpful and excellent room rate. They were both some of the closest hotels to the maingate which we found very important

The hotel we had in mind was Econo Lodge Maingate (2 blocks away).
Not the greatest location, I'd say. You should look for something south of Ball Road and I-5.

There's one called the XXX Inn at the Park that has a really nice pool, it's older and been sold so I don't know the rest of the name anymore. The rooms were okay too.

We've stayed at the Tropicana two summers in a row and liked it. That's likely where we will stay on our next trip, too. It's clean and close, and they have a free continental breakfast, too.

We have stayed at the Motel 6 several times even when it was changed to the Red roof inn. Its a nice motel but it can be a long walk back from a busy day at the park, you could use the ART system but I found it can get full fast and some times you end up waiting longer than it would have been to walk.

In my opinion, if this is the hotel I am thinking of....way to far to walk and have to cross the overpass of I-5. Check out the Park Vue Inn and Ramada Maingate or Anaheim Desert Inn and Suites as well.....
