Hi all,
I had some questions about this place for anyone who has stayed there.
Here we go:

Is the three bedroom townhouse 2 floors? If so, how many bedrooms up and how many down?

How far are the townhomes from the pool area?

Is there a pool bar and does it serve food?

Is there anything within walking distance to do/see/eat?
My inlaws will be without a car while we are at the parks and I want to be sure they can walk to restaurants or other activities.

How does it compare to Cypress Pointe Gran Villas?

Thanks for any help/opinions you have!

We stayed in Jan/Feb 05 and will be heading down there in 10 days! :cool1:
LOVED it!!!

Let's see what I can answer for you:
*** Is the three bedroom townhouse 2 floors? If so, how many bedrooms up and how many down?***
All the units, both 3 and 4 bedrooms are on 2 floors, the 3 bedroom that we rented in 05 was 1 twin bedroom downstairs with attached bath, 1 queen and 1 twin bedroom upstairs, both with seperate baths. The 4 bedroom we are renting here in 06 has 1 Queen bedroom downstairs with bath, and 1 Queen with bath and 2 twins with shared bath.

***How far are the townhomes from the pool area?***
That depends on what street your townhome is located on, the furthest away would be 2 blocks I would imagine...ask who you are renting from to possibly put you closer to the pool area. The pool area is behind the main office and health club area.

***Is there a pool bar and does it serve food?***
There is both an indoor area and outside terrace dining. They will deliver poolside and your townhome I believe (at least they offered us that option when we were there in 05) There are great discount certificates on resturaunt.com for the grill. :teeth: Typical bar/grille type food, although the pints of beer were quite expensive, just under $10 each :scared1:

***Is there anything within walking distance to do/see/eat?***
There is a Publix supermarket, a dollar store, a bookshop, a pizza place, a chinese place, and a liquor store just about 1/2 mile walking distance from the complex. The resort does offer shuttles to the parks if that helps your parents?

***How does it compare to Cypress Pointe Gran Villas?***
I don't know the answer to this, I don't have any experience wtih the Grand Villas. I do know I really liked our stay at the Regal Palms in '05 and can't wait for our upcoming trip!!! I have recommended this resort to all my friends and family and I really hope you like your stay too! :sunny:

Thanks, that's great info!
Ouch on the beer prices but I suppose I can bring it in a plastic cup from my own fridge.

I note that a lot of people talk about renting from private owners. How does one go about doing that? I got my info from the Regal Palm web site. Wouldn't it be safer to rent from the company direct?

We did (and are for this year too) rent from a private owner. I found his website and contacted him and he gave me several people to contact for references. We payed through Paypal and that felt like I had some recourse if something "fishy" was to have happened. Any hesitation that I had completely went away after the first few emails and confirmation #s were sent to me. The owner was honest, thorough, and prompt! I have recommended him to several friends and family members headed to that area. :goodvibes

You can check websites like www.vrbo.com and www.a1vacations.com for private owners at the Regal Palms. We were able to negotiate a great price for our trip in '05 and a FANTASTIC rate for our '06 trip. :cool1: Not sure if the Regal Palms management company will negotiate prices. :confused3
