After searching for a while online, I found a perfect deal and bought my camera.

Even after someone told me about this in another thread, I missed this part:

This product is manufacturer refurbished to new condition, factory refurbished box, unopened, everything is keeping in the original manufactory status. This package includes the following warranty:

Is this something bad?

I thought I'd won the jackpot because I get an additional 2 GB card, a camera bad and a battery charger.

The seller has really great reviews so I based it on that. Stupid fine print...... *grumbles*

Guess I'm going to take a chance and hope for the best. I already paid for it anyways. I was thrilled to find it at such a great price.

I usually don't buy refurbished but I doubt if it is refurbished by the manufacturer that you will have any problem with it. The thing that it has going for it was that someone sat down and took the time to go through the camera and fix the problem and make sure everything is working right. When you buy new they come off the assembly line and hopefully it works fine when you get it because more than likely no one checked it out before it was boxed up and sent to the stores. It also has a 1 year manufacturer's warranty which is the same as buying a new Canon camera.

The seller looks like a really good one for the amount of business they do. You are right though, the "refurbished" part of the listing was wayyyyyy down the page.

Congratulations on your new camera and good luck with it.

I brought my camera Nikon D50 off E Bay which was a manufactures refurb. I have had no problems with it at all and got a great deal too :thumbsup2

Thanks guys!

I feel a bit better this morning. I guess we'll have to wait and see what I get. Just wish I'd paid a bit more attention (especially after someone here mentioned this to me prior to me purchasing this!) I was too busy being happt to have found what I consider a great deal! The one I have on layaway was: $523 plus $98 for the memory card and another $20 for a case and if I wanted the rechargeable batteries, we wer looking at another $30. With taxes, my cost was well over $700. Quite the savings here, even if I take into consideration the shipping fees and the duty.

I'll report back after I recieve it. I'm not sure how long it will take before it arrives in Canada.

It has arrived!

It ended up sidetracked by UPS and arrived 3 days after the expected date.

Anyways.... it's a real beauty. I now just have to figure out how to use it. :confused3 I'm so glad I have a few months ahead of me before the trip.

I've succeeded in taking a few pictures in 'auto' mode but that's about all for now.
