Refund Question

I am not sure where to even put this question but here goes, if it does come down to NWA striking and we are unable to fly to Orlando for our vacation will we still be penalized from disney for not cancelling our reservations ahead of time? Seeing that we will not know if we will have transportation up until the day of our trip, 3/7, I would like to know how disney would handle our cancellation fees. It will be heartbreaking enough to not be able to go on this trip that we have planned for two years to to the airlines but if we are hit with all these cancellations fees well that would really just put the icing on the cake. As far as other options with using other airlines for our trip, there really isn't any other options for us due to where we live. I have already checked on United but for us to fly with them the tickets would cost us over 1000.00 for just the two of us and honeslty we just can't afford to shell out that kind of money. So would disney work with us on this matter since it will be totally out of our hands? Thanks

Unless you purchased your airline tickets through Disney (and they chose your airline/flight), there generally won't be any consideration offered if you are unable to travel to Orlando because of an airline strike.

Having said that, Disney may or may not offer you some assistance in rebooking with either a smaller penalty or with the penalty waived. However, please remember that the deadlines for getting refunds and such, that are part of your package terms and conditions (if any), are specified for a reason: It announces to you, the customer, what you can expect, so you should consider anything offered beyond that as a gesture of generosity. However, please don't count on anything like that.

Best of luck!

That is what I figured, I purchased my tickets through NWA myself way back in May 2005 but what I understand is that if they do go on strike NWA would have to refund the money back for the tickets, they just don't have any obligation to find us another way to Orlando. So I am trying to keep positvie about this whole situation since we will be losing a nice sum of money if we are unable to get to Orlando.

If you bought a package through Disney and purchased the trip insurance, you would probably be covered as well.

When we were flying during hurricane season, and SW shut down, Disney gave back our down payment without any argument.

Thanks for the info, I am just going to try and patiently wait it out and hope that there will be no strike. I booked our trip through AAA so I am not sure what the penalties would be with them if we could not fly due to a strike, I am going to contact my agent tomorrow and ask her about it. I am keeping my fingers crossed that this whole NWA thing can come to a solution that makes everyone happy.
