:wave2: Hello. I just called WDW to modify my package by reducing the number of guests. (My DD's friend is no longer going with . . .) Anyway, the difference was about $250. So, I asked if they would mail it to me and the CM said no that it would be added to my room card for use during the trip.

Is that normal?

It is an option. Basically you have paid for the original package but there is no charge to counter balance the payment. When you check into the hotel it shows a big lump sum credit being applied to your room (which is your deposit or full payment whatever the case may be). When the front desk CM actually checks your reservation in it "explodes" the package which then applies the charge and balances out the credit that is sitting there. In your case they adjusted to package so when you check in and the reservation is opened and the package "explodes" it will be for less than what the payment was and will leave you with a credit on your room account.

Does that make sense? I hope so, having worked front desk for so long, I sometimes think I get to technical because I understand it...

:) No worries it happens often

So you can have your money back, as long as you spend it at Disney, huh? Tricky!! :smooth:

If you change your plans and the new cost is less than you have paid, CRO gives you an option of leaving it on your account as a credit when you check in to the hotel or having it credited back to your account that you paid with.

Well, not really. If you don't charge anything to your room then the remaining balance will be refunded to you the same way it was paid to them. But chances are you are going to charge, I just think of it as a savings account. You had planned to spend that money on the reservation, since it was not needed for the package it is a credit on the account, if they send it back I personally would spend it before the trip. If it is left as a credit to my account then at least I know I have that much that is waiting for me...it's not like I am not going to spend it anyway...

As vacationwoman said, they can credit it back the same way it was received or they can leave it thus leaving you a credit. Depending on when you are traveling the option to leave it could be the best option. It can take up to 2 billing cycles for a credit to appear on a CC and who knows how long a check could take to be issued, mailed and received, etc. Sometimes it is just easier (or in the best interest of the guest) to just leave it.

LOL I know, sad really that we have to live like that these days... but, that is the terminology that they use for packages... :sunny: Have a great trip
