Hello,
I am arriving in less than 30 days and was able to switch from a preferred room to a water view room within the same resort resulting in a 200.00 savings. The CM I spoke with didnt mention anything about a change fee, but after reading some post I am assuming it will happen.

I was wondering, does anyone know if I can have that 200 credit waiting for me on my account/room when we arrive so that I can essentially use the credit on my magic band instead of it being put back on my visa.

The CM told me that it would be there as a credit when I arrive at the resort, but I just never know if that is the right answer or not.

Thanks!
Jen

I doubt it. They are different departments. WDW is generally a bit slow at issuing refunds. It should go back against whatever your final payment was (credit card, gift card, etc.).

Agree with the PP. It usually credits back to your payment method. My understanding is that Disney doesn't like guest having credit balances...which I can totally understand.

When we made our fall reservations this year, there were only preferred rooms available in the beginning. When standard view opened up, we swapped to those, and saved quite a bit. I had a credit issued to my credit card within a couple of days. Might want to check your credit card online...there might be a credit on there already.

We've always left any credit we've received on our room. Which was then used first with our MagicBand purchases. When you check in, just double check that the credit is still on your room (it should be if you didn't receive a refund). Then that amount will be deducted first from any of your MB charges.

This was 3 years ago; but after I'd paid for a package with a room at WL and dining (military discounted room with dining added) I had some unexpected issues that ate up the money I'd saved for our park tickets. I didn't want to mess up my budget; so 3 weeks before we left I called and switched us to a package with a room at All-Star Movies, dining and tickets and it ended up being 200.00 less than what I had already paid. My card was credited within a few days.

Thank you for the responses. I checked my credit card and no credit applied as of yet. I am hoping that it will be like thisismyusername said and it will be left on my room when we arrive! This is what the CM on the phone told me...but I always second guess. I guess I shall see in 21 days!

It would be better if it is waiting for us,as the dollar isn't that great and it would work in our favor to have the credit when we arrive :)

I did this change online so it might work differently than through the phone, but sometime after I made a reservation for a one night stay at ASMu since we're arriving a day earlier than planned, the AP discount came out for my dates. I went online and applied the discount and while it was only $5 cheaper than the public discount, it was stated in my email: "Your previously paid amount was applied to your updated reservation and resulted in a credit. A total of $5.00 will be applied to your hotel account." DH and I joked that one of us could get a Mickey Bar for that. I was glad it didn't go back on one of the gift cards I used to pay for the room. I rather just charge something to my room than figure out which gift card was refunded $5.
