We are staying at the Yacht club. Do we need to request a refrigerator / microwave or do they come with the room ? If we do need to request them when should we do this? finally how big are the refrigerators, can you fit a gallon of milk in them?

Thanks
Greg

All deluxes and moderates have the dorm size refrigerators in there so you don't have to request one. Microwaves are not a standard item so you would have to request that (if they even provide them in your room - I have no idea about that).

A gallon of milk will fit into the refrigerator but there won't be a ton more room for too much else. When my in-laws are pressed for fridge room, they find getting two of the smaller milks fit better since they are higher and not so fat.

There should be a fridge in the room. In all of my many, many trips to Disney, only one time did I check in and NOT have a fridge where a fridge was supposed to be. Boardwalk Inn. They told me they were out of fridges. Grrr. It took a lot of doing, but within 90 minutes, I had two. :)

If the PP says you can get a gallon of milk in there, I guess they're right. I never did. Never even tried - they look so small! I think a gallon of milk would be all you'd get in there.

I do not know if they send microwaves or not. Never asked. :confused3

Actually, and not to be technical, but they are slightly larger than 'dorm size.' At least larger than the one I had when I was in college..

My understanding is that microwaves in the rooms (not villas/suites) are against fire codes. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Others have posted you can request a microwave, however since it's a request there is a chance it might not hapen. So in that case the best thing is to use the one they provide at the counter service locations.

No. You used to be able to turn of the fridge so it would slightly freeze things, but apparently that is no longer possible.

It is possible if you take a pair of needle-nosed pliers with you! :goodvibes
They have removed the knob to adjust the temperature in the fridges and put a plastic 'stopper' over the hole. However, you can easily remove the stopper and use a pair of pliers to turn the temp control 'stick' just inside the hole opening to adjust the temp. (It's really quite easy.) We just turned it back down before we left. We take food and eat lunch each day in the room and the fridge would NOT have kept our food cold enough to prevent spoiling at the temp the resort had set it to.:sad2:

You will have a fridge in the room automatically. Disney recently made this change (about a year or two ago, I believe) so that all deluxes and moderates have them. It is a standard smaller fridge (think college lol). Disney Vacation Club villas also have a fridge and the size depends on whether it's a studio or regular bedroom layout.

Oh, I guess to say money on energy costs....

IMHO I will be paying enough at a deluxe resort to warrant a "cold" refrigerator!

That really stinks! Ridiculous! How cheap of Disney!
