Poll coming.

I've been seeing a lot on those home buyer shows that the buyers expect the home to come with a fridge. Every house I've ever bought (and most that I've looked at) did NOT come with a fridge. (Besides, eewww I don't want someone's used refrigerator)

So what do you think? Should a house on the market include a refrigerator? Would it push you one way or the other on buying a home?

We didn't have one in our home and every house we looked at the fridge wasn't supplied.

I expect a fridge in a rental house, but not a house I'm buying. When we were shopping, none of the houses had a fridge as part of the deal, though one or two were open to offers on the fridge to be bought separately.

It's a regional thing. Around here most houses come with all appliances, washer/dryer/fridge/stove/dishwasher/water softener/microwave but other parts of the country people actually move their appliances with them-which I think is weird-who wants to move all of that heavy stuff.

Ewww? Really? Are you planning to replace the toilets when you move? Because that would concern me more than someone's used fridge! :rotfl:

Every home we ever looked at before buying came with all the appliances (though occassionally the washer and dryer were not included).

I wouldn't expect it when buying a house. That said, my current house came with a fridge. IMHO, it is roughly worth it's price in consideration, if you don't already have a fridge.

When we bought our house 2 years ago all of the houses came with appliances the only ones that were sometimes negotiable were the washer/dryer

I don't really care 1 way or the other myself. Our fridge was a gift. I remember our realtor pointing at the stove and saying that's, its part of the sale and me taking 1 look at a missing oven door and going "not like that its not":rotfl: So they bought us a new stove.

The fridge was not in the contract but come settlement day, we go for the walk through before signing all paperwork and there it is still sitting in the kitchen. Like the fridge better than I like the stove, and happy I didn't have to go buy 1.

I always watch the shows on HGTV and wonder just how many houses have appliances that convey these days.

I agree with the poster that said it is regional.

My sister in GA, always has to supply her own frig. Here in VA it usual to have kitchen appliances to convey but not necessarily the washer/dryer. It is kind of weird. Thinking about it, our new built house came with standard kitchen appliance (which you could pay to upgrade), but washer/dryer of any sort were not standard. You could buy them as options. I wonder does it have to due with any health laws in the different areas/states.

I lean towards - it depends on the kitchen.

If it's an older house that needs the kitchen updated, not having a fridge would not bother me.

But if it was a newer remodeled kitchen and all the appliances are brand/series matched, then ya the fridge had better be staying to keep the look intact.

We JUST bought our house, and it came with all appliances, as did all the homes (some didn't have washer/dryer) that I looked at.
I did replace the fridge though. It was old, gross, and I wanted something more energy efficient.

Here it is standard that a fridge will not come with the house. Most rentals also do not provide them although we do have one in our rental.

Very unusual not to see appliances included with a purchase of a home outside of washer/dryer which are probably 50/50 if they are included or not.

Not standard here although we include the fridge and washer/dryer with the house on our second house.

They also got a Rainbow Playground.

We were moving to TX and had to sell the house fast and extras are a nice selling point.

Here most houses for sale do not have a fridge included. Rental houses- hit or miss from what I've seen and heard- some do, some don't.

Around here, most homes for sale come with all the kitchen appliances. Washer and dryer are usually negotiated. I've also never rented an apartment/house that didn't have a fridge included.

I've lived in both New Mexico and Michigan and have yet to buy a house that didn't have the fridge/stove/dishwasher included. Our current house also included the washer/dryer. I don't know why a used fridge would skeeve anyone out--it's pretty easy to clean and sterilize.

Yes, it would make me reconsider a house if the appliances weren't included. If I like two houses fairly equally and they're the same price, then I'd go for the one that included the appliances.

:lmao: Heck, my MIL bought a very expensive house while my FIL was out of the country just because it included the window treatments and she really liked them.

I wouldn't expect it to come with one, but if it did, I would consider it a lucky break. As far as using someone else's fridge...well, that's what bleach is for!

A home NOT having a fridge included as part of the sale would not preclude me from purchasing that home.
