So I want need a new one like now, but I am waiting until after our trip...... I am looking for bottom freezer with some organizing ability. No water/ice in door. Must be delivered and set up (Ikea had one but I think it will be annoying to have delivered ?) prefer you take the old one.

What store or brand I have no idea where to start my apartment size one is not near big enough for my eat at home family of 5 :rotfl2:

We purchased all new appliances 4 years ago as part of a kitchen remodel. We bought 2 GE (microwave and stove) and 2 LG - dishwasher and French door fridge. I will never buy LG again. They've both been nothing but trouble. I have my 5th service call scheduled for my refrigerator next week where they are replacing the motherboard. This is the last time I will spend any money to have it repaired. Interestingly enough, I live in the DC area and have had a difficult time finding anyone to service the LG appliances. From what the repair people have told me, it can be difficult to find anyone to service LG and some of the other more popular brands (like Samsung). Just something to think about when you do decide on a new one. We did buy them all at Home Depot and they delivered, installed and hauled away all the old ones. Good luck! (I do love the freezer on the bottom - just not the brand we bought!)

Have had a Kenmore elite french door freezer in bottom since 2003. Has served our family of six well. Would buy again.

Appliances are a tough thing to buy, because by the time they are old enough to have any meaningful information on reliability, the manufacturers have changed the current models so much, that reliability record doesn't apply.

I say that, because 3 years ago when I bought my Kenmore, made by LG, it was a top brand in reliablity, which clearly has not been DVC96's experience.

My last refrigerator was Montgomery Wards model made by Frigidaire, and we decided after 27 trouble free years we were pressing our luck running it any longer. But clearly Montgomery Wards was long gone 3 years ago when I was shopping, and I doubt Frigidaire makes them the same as they did in 1983.

Ditto kenmore elite. We had this at our last house. I miss it. This house we bought with Bosch. I don't like the fridge. There are cold spots and the drawers fall off track easily. I am counting down until we can replace the appliances.

We replaced the stove, over the stove microwave and fridge during a home remodel in 2011. The Kenmore Elite dw was nearly new and I saw no reason to replace it. The new appliances are all GE - the fridge is a GE Profile, the stove and micro are just GE.

I am very happy with all 3. The fridge is a counter-depth french door style, and it took time to adjust to having less space (we kept the fridge that came with the house and put in the basement for add'l storage). I love the baskets in the bottom freezer, and the can rack built into the door. It was a superb deal - a discontinued store model so discounted there, plus we bought during Lowe's 10% off on Energy Star rated appliances, plus we got a 15% discount for buying 3 appliances at once. They delivered for free, would have taken the old ones away for free, and did all the set-up. Plus, you get 5% off if you charge it to your Lowe's card (only good if you pay it off right away with their interest rates). And we got the full one-year warranty even though Lowe's had had it cooling the 6 mos it was on the floor.

In addition to selling their floor models, Lowe's sells returns at a very nice discount with full warranty, too. And you can get a 10% off coupon for any Lowe's purchase if you go to the post office and pick up a change of address packet.

We have never had any service on these items, but we did have to service a Samsung front-load washer at about 6 mos (turned out to be operator error, but they handled it under warranty anyway), and we had no issues finding someone to service it. Lowe's actually gave us the name of the place to call.

And you can also check the local 'scratch and dent' warehouse. Most large cities have them, and many times the blemishes are things you won't even see. We bought a microwave one time that had a dent in the side. Well, it was installed over the stove, so the side was hidden by the cabinets. Saved about 40% for something no one will ever see.

And my gps always had scratch and dents, as my gpa owned a trucking co. If he damaged it, he kept it (after ins reimbursements to the owners), so all their appliances were damaged in some way. It almost never affected the way it operated.

We bought a Kenmore Elite refrigerator with the bottom freezer two years ago. It has fruit, vegetable, and deli drawers in the refrigerator. I bought an extra glass shelf for it. We also had a Kenmore Elite freezer delivered at the same time. The deliverypeople were very professional and did a great job installing the appliances.

There was a deal with the local electric utility at that time where we could get $50 for purchasing certain Energy Star appliances and recycling the old ones. We set up the pickup of the old refrigerator online. DH had moved it to the garage before the new one was delivered, and we kept it running until the pickup crew arrived since they had to see that it worked.

The old Kenmore freezer had been making a noise. Once it was empty DH figured out what was wrong and ordered the part to repair it. Now we have two freezers. I'm trying to empty at least one before we go on vacation. We're not spending much on groceries right now. :cool1:

I have had my Kenmore Fridge for 18 years. My mother had her first one for 30 years and has had her second Kenmore for 8. Hers is a bottom freezer and she loves that aspect.
