I haven't been to WDW since 2003 - at that time I could request a refrigerator for my insulin for free. We always stayed at CSR - but this september we will bestaying at POP. Will i still be able to request a free refrigerator to store my insulin in??

Thanks for all your help.

yes.
They may give you one of the little shoebox size refrigerators or one of the larger ones (like dorm room size).

It will be a shoebox one, but my experience is that POP is very efficient with getting it to your room when you need it.

I've had VERY bad experiences with the All-Stars (Movies in particular) promptness with refrigerator delivery. Once, I had to have an emergency refill called into the Publix pharmacy (they had my insurance info on file) because somebody goofed up not once, but TWICE! I didn't get my fridge that time till after midnight and a couple of conversations with the night manager.

hiya are all POP fridges shoebox size? we will be travelling with a child on a very strict gf/cf diet and will need to store his food. don't think a shoebox size will be big enough? thanks

Yes, all the fridges in the values are the very small ones, about 18" by 18", I think, don't quote me on that, but its close.

I can't remember if you have to show proof for the need of a fridge for medical reasons-so people don't abuse it, I guess. It might be something else I'm thinking of.

thanks.

i will be bringing a letter from the gp so thats not a problem. so there's definitely no chance of a bigger fridge then?

I have stayed at POP the past 2 years and I always have gotten a regular dorm size fridge with absolutely no problem or proof. I always tell them when I make the ressie that I need it.
A word of warning though.. last year when we went the fridge was waiting for us so we put my DDs insulin in and went about our busniess. the next morning we woke to FROZEN insulin. There was enough left in her pen for breakfast and thats about it. We spent forever finding a pharmacy that had her novalog cartridges. POP told me they " always turn the fridges to max " when they first plug them in to get them ready for the guest. Thats a great sentiment but I would have never thought about it and it ended up costing us half a day and about $200 in medicine and delivery. Just be aware of this and watch how cold your fridge gets. It almost ruined our trip. Now we know better.

What they give you depends on what they have.
They have both types of refrigerators.

March of '06 I got the dorm sized fridge free at All-Star music w/o a problem, no proof required.

Call the reservation number and ask them to add the request to your ressie. tell them you need the fridge not only for meds but for food because there is a medical need to store that food. They will have no problem with assisting you. They have been nothing but friendly to us with any of our medical requests.
have a great trip!

On our last trip we stayed in POR, and there was already a fridge in the room. For this next trip, we are staying in POP and requested a fridge be in the room (for DD9 - insulin). This is our first time having to "request" one. We received our paper packet with vouchers, etc., and the resort paper showed nothing about the fridge. Should it be listed?? On each phone call I have made (re: ADRs, etc.) I have asked if the medical fridge was on our ressie, and I have always been told that it was. :confused3

I believe some rooms already have them and they are filled with soda, alcohol, snacks. They keep inventory if anything was eaten. If it is, it's added to the bill.

In 2004 we stayed at the as sports and I requested a fridge for my DS's medication. At check-in the cast member was trying to straighten something out with our ressie because of the 2 separate ressies because of the season rate change, while she was on the phone with someone else discussing the situation she says to the other person on the phone and do you see that request (meaning the fridge request) I believe she thought we could'nt hear her because she looked surprised when DH asked if there was a problem. She did give us a good room though. Ds can swallow pills now so we pay for a fridge, I did'nt bring a note with me I just showed her the medication.

I'm 99.7689% certain any refrigerators in any of the regular rooms in any of the Disney resorts do not come stocked with anything. Except shelves.

I'm 99.9867% sure that on a trip to CBR, our room had a stocked fridge. They may have stopped putting them in the rooms since then. Better round that up to 100%.

I don't know when they stopped doing it, but the Moderates (POR, CBR, etc) did have the stocked refrigerators in the rooms (I can't remember what they were called). I do know that they still had them in CBR and PO in December of 1998, because my oldest DD stayed in both of those resorts a few days after Christmas thru Jan 3 that year and did eat some of the stuff out of them.
They started putting empty refrigerators in the Moderate and Deluxe rooms over a year ago, so if you stay in one of those resorts or any of the DVC rooms, you will have a refrigerator without requesting one.

Thank you SueM in MN, I knew I wasn't going crazy. Although it would have been a very short trip.
